An interesting article about new hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric cars, and the expensive upfront cost of purchasing one along with a questionable payoff as fuel remains relatively inexpensive. We propose Diesels, and biodiesel in particular, as a good solution. With solid fuel economy gains over a gas-engine car along with a price premium much lower than that of a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric, Diesels present a good value. Of course, there's also the fact that Diesels are known to be reliable, durable and great for hauling heavy loads and the fact that biodiesel is renewable, non-toxic, biodegradable and domestically produced.
Despite a lack of buyers, automakers are flooding the Detroit auto show with new hybrid and plug-in models.
