Many parts stores sell these felt type rings as corrosion control the install under the battery terminals, what a lot of people don’t realize is that battery posts are tapered so if you don’t seat the terminal all the way down on the battery post the terminal can not tighten properly. Some times this leads to over tightening of the terminal which can stretch it out. We’ve seen an up tick in this happening over the past several months leading to no starts or discharged battery’s and ruined battery terminals. Rather than using these rings it’s better to use an anti corrosion spray, we’ve found fluid film to be the longest lasting corrosion preventer. Just a little PSA to try and save some battery terminals!

Our new 12,000 lift is finally installed! It was a fair bit of work to jack up the old floor and pour a new 10” thick pad but we will now more easily be able to handle some of those larger trucks, before we had trouble picking anything over a 1/2 ton, now we can easily handle up to 1 ton and some 550’s no problem!

So we did a little experiment today, we stock different brands and types of filters and I’ve always assumed oem filters are superior, so I decided to check out the insides, turns out the Carquest premium and r series are identical inside and the only difference is the o ring seal, which if you change your oil regularly shouldn’t ever be an issue, the shocker was that the oem ford filter was made from noticeably thinner metal, a cheaper spring inside and there was less filtering material as seen in the last picture, Carquest r series on the left, fo mo co on the right. I haven’t decided if I’m still going to stock and use the ford filters. Maybe next week we’ll do a comparison with ac delco filters!

Customer was concerned their headlights seemed dim, it’s very common for plastic headlights to get discolored and deteriorate so we did a headlight restore by sanding them down and working our way up in grits to eventually wet sand and buff them out, you can see the difference of brightness on the wall after it was done, of course we tape off the surrounding area to protect the paint from any dust or buffing compound getting on the paint

This customer got their car towed in for a crank no start, it was and obvious find that some hungry rodent got in here to snack on their engine harness, had to repair 11 wires in all, installed new wire loom and an electronic ultrasonic rodent repellent. Got them back up and running in a few hours.
