Kevlar body armor doesn’t just “stop” a bullet—it defies it. Instead of allowing a bullet to tear through, Kevlar transforms the deadly impact into a game of resistance and resilience. When a bullet strikes, the tightly woven fibers of the Kevlar vest interlock, stretching and distributing the force across a larger area. This ingenious design dramatically slows the bullet, stopping it before it can pe*****te deeply enough to cause severe harm.

Think of it like a spiderweb snaring its prey. Those delicate strands may appear fragile, yet they're masters of strength, catching unsuspecting insects by absorbing and spreading the force of their impact. Kevlar works the same way—its fibers don’t just block; they collaborate to keep the wearer safe from harm.

This extraordinary mix of science and engineering has saved countless lives, turning what would be a deadly strike into a deflected blow. Next time you see a bulletproof vest, remember the impressive technology and sheer ingenuity woven into every fiber.

If you didn't read our previous post regarding color matching and all that can go wrong, we suggest you do. Here's an example of all that went right after the ACCUFIX team applied six very deliberate coats of color to create a flawless transition from the vehicle's plastic bumper to its metal body.

Since the 1980s, Japanese automakers have dazzle Americans. Today, Japanese automakers hold almost 40% of the US auto market, yet vehicles produced in the US have a contrasting effect on the Japanese market. Shocking, the largest US auto manufacturer only sold 700 cars in the Japanese marketplace in 2018.

So what’s the deal? Poor sales results can be summarized easily – Japan has far stricter automaker regulations than the US. Additionally, consumer preference and cultural differences, such as size and design, affect would-be buyers. The result: 95% of cars driven in Japan are locally manufactured. The remaining 5% are primarily from European luxury and specialty vehicle manufacturers. European cars are generally more compact, better fitting the needs and preferences of the Japanese citizens because of practicality issues such as crowded cities, narrow roads, and scarce parking. In contrast, US truck and SUV manufacturers produce vehicles so large they can be almost impossible to navigate easily in other countries.

Finally, the vehicle purchasing experience is entirely different in the US versus Japan. US drivers generally choose from dealers based on availability; however, Japanese consumers are offered a more customized buying experience. Vehicles are sold from catalogs, then enter production. Remarkably, lead times are usually less than a month. The result is a car buying process that leaves the buyer with unique desired features, including interior, exterior, and technology.

While the American lifestyle is, in a general sense, far different than the Japanese, it’s interesting to see how we gravitate to their auto products despite the lack of reciprocation. Perhaps the US will adapt its design processes as our population grows, but our streets will remain lined with personal vehicles of more than 7,000 lbs. for now.

What is the difference between OEM and aftermarket parts?

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer, which means the parts are manufactured by the same company that manufacturers the vehicle. However, aftermarket parts are manufactured by different companies than the vehicles manufacturer. In addition, aftermarket parts are typically designed for compatibility with as many makes and models as possible and are not subject to the same manufacturing standards as the vehicles manufacturer. So, while aftermarket parts are sometimes necessary, they can also lead to quality, fit, performance, and warrany issues. In extreme cases, they lead to the severe compromising of the vehicle's safety.

Our team will walk you through all you need to know regarding OEM and aftermarket parts in the coming weeks. While you may not retain all of the information shared, we want you to understand just how critical it is to work with a shop that fully understands the risks and rewards of each parts category. In the meantime, let the ACCUFIX team educate you on your collision or hail damage by scheduling your vehicle's no-cost inspection/estimate today.

In Colorado, it’s a coverage that’s declined far too often, mostly because auto owners don’t know what they’re declining. We know this because the time when auto owners realize they don’t carry the coverage is when it’s needed – directly after opening a collision or comprehensive claim.

Rental reimbursement coverage is an optional auto insurance coverage that helps cover the cost of a rental while the vehicle is undergoing repairs. It’s important to understand that rental reimbursement coverage can only be used following a claim under your own auto insurance policy, not for maintenance or the use of a rental car while on vacation. However, the coverage is typically cheap to how often Colorado drivers file auto insurance claims and how expensive rental vehicles have become – especially during hail season. The coverage is sold as a flat dollar amount per day, percentage of total cost per day, and always carries a maximum benefit.

Example: $50 per day / $1200 maximum.

If you don’t have the coverage already, we suggest you talk to your insurance carrier. But, if you already have an open claim with no rental reimbursement coverage, call the ACCUFIX team to discuss our highly affordable in-house rental options.

Four Reasons Your Cars Bumper May Appear Slightly Different In Color

1. A vehicle's final paint color depends on the painted material, combined with the paint's evaporative rate in relationship to that particular material. For example, a plastic bumper will have a different evaporative rate than a metal fender, causing a pigmentation difference. The longer the evaporative rate, the darker the paint will appear.
2. While a vehicle's body is painted on the manufacturer's production line, parts such as the bumper and body trim may have been painted at another facility entirely. If so, elements such as paint mixture, equipment, humidity, and temperature can affect a paint's outcome.
3. Micro adjustments may have been made during the painting process.
4. It could all be in your head. For example, the human eye sees the light reflect differently on curved surfaces versus flat surfaces. This effect, known as a "color shift," can cause your brain to believe there is a color variation when there isn't.
