I now have the tooling to cut CAT blocks for liner shims in-frame. Getting the liners shimmed back up even within 0.001” is important to get the head gasket to last. This one got a gold kit, new head, a couple new gears up front, and some fresh paint.

Swinging two new heads this week on two Detroits. Series 60 with chipped valve and getting overhauled. The DD15 with excessive intake valve wear causing a compression loss. The DD15 was not far from having a chipped valve and bigger problems.

We now have the tooling to cut Detroit blocks for liner shims. If you have a series 60 with a blown head gasket chances are the liner has sunk in the block and the liner will need shimmed back up to prevent premature head gasket failure. I’m not aware of hardly any other shops in the area that can do this. We will be getting the CAT adaptor also to cut CAT blocks. We also offer mobile block cutting for other shops in the area.
