For the main event at the Chino Challenge, We mounted three GoPros on defending champion Scott Hensley's derby car—one facing forward, one facing backward, and one inside the cockpit.
Scott came into the night chasing history, trying to become the first driver ever to win back-to-back Chino Challenge championships. But when you're the defending champion, you don't just have to beat the track...
You have to beat everyone who's trying to take you out.
Before the green flag, Scott said every derby track changes from year to year, except for one thing at Chino—the infamous ditch around the outside of the arena. It's the one obstacle that never changes, and every driver has to know where it is at all times.
That interview turned out to be almost prophetic.
Late in the main event, two competitors worked together and shoved Scott into the ditch. Once you're in there, getting back out is easier said than done. The ditch claimed the defending champion and ended his bid for history.
The hits were brutal. The strategy was ruthless. And 7,500 screaming fans were on their feet for every second of it.
