Starklite Cycles Indian Motorcycle

Starklite Cycles Indian Motorcycle 1933-1953 Indian motorcycle parts and service The passion for Indian bikes runs deep, from working in a dealership to designing high-quality parts.

Hello Indian Motorcycle Enthusiasts,

I’m Kurt Reichenbach, the new owner of what was Starklite Cycle, now rebranded as Kurly’s Starklite Cycle. We’ve recently moved the business to Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and I'm excited to continue offering top-notch parts and services for vintage Indian motorcycles. Our History and Future

The story of Starklite Cycle is deeply entwined with the Stark fam

ily, whose roots in the Indian Motorcycle community date back to 1918 when the family owned a dealership in Akron, Ohio. This deep history with Indian Motorcycles continued with Gary Stark, whose father started working at the dealership in 1944 and bought his first Indian motorcycle five years later. His background in Mechanical Engineering, obtained in 1955, significantly enhanced his ability to design and manufacture outstanding Indian parts. Gary's own journey with Indian motorcycles started when he was just five years old, eventually restoring his first bike, a 1947 Chief, by the age of 16. This legacy is something I deeply respect and am committed to upholding. New Beginnings at Kurly’s Starklite Cycle

With the move to Black River Falls, we're setting up a larger space to better serve you. We’re focused on improving our offerings and ensuring we have all the parts you might need, both new and used. Our Promise to You

We’re working hard to keep our product catalog and website filled with detailed photos and useful information to help you find exactly what you need. Whether it’s through our catalog or website, if you can’t find a part, just let us know and we’ll track it down for you. I’m thrilled to continue this journey of maintaining and restoring Indian motorcycles and look forward to helping you keep your bikes running beautifully. Thanks for sticking with us through these changes. We're glad to have you with us. Warm regards,

Kurt Reichenbach

Have you ever wondered what year your Indian Motorcycle really is? Or puzzled over what that engine or frame number means? You’re not alone. From 1901 to 1953, Indian used several different numbering systems — often changing them every few years. How many Indian Motorcycles were produced? That’s a question historians and enthusiasts have debated for decades. The Indian Motorcycle Company kept notoriously poor production records, making it difficult to know exact numbers. Researchers have pieced together estimates from serial numbers, factory notes, and industry records, but even these are often incomplete. Thanks to dedicated historians like Jerry Hatfield and contributions from the community, we have a working list of approximate production figures....

Day two at Wally’s Bike Workshop, and the rare 1949 Indian Vertical Scout is back under the wrench! This isn’t just any old restoration, it’s a detailed journey into one of the more misunderstood and often maligned Indians ever built. The Vertical Scout, produced only briefly by Indian in the late 1940s, is known for being both innovative and temperamental. Finding parts is a challenge, and owning one often means fabricating solutions on the fly....

During the 1930s, the Indian Motocycle Company of Springfield, Massachusetts — best known for its iconic two-wheelers — ventured into new territory. Among their many sideline projects was the development of airplane engines, a bold attempt to diversify beyond motorcycles. While motorcycles remained the backbone of the brand, Indian engineers experimented with both liquid-cooled V-type engines and air-cooled rotary engines…...
