Our second tornado survey graphic release of the day is the second tornado that occurred on the night of April 14th-15th, 2026. This was the first of two tornadoes within the same parent storm in Allegan and Barry counties, known officially as the Allegan EF-0 tornado, or Schermerhorn Lake EF-0 for those familiar to the area.
Michigan Storm Chasers Observations
This tornado was on the ground for just shy of 7 miles, starting at the east end of Schermerhorn Lake, and concluding a couple miles shy of Otsego, passing to the south of Allegan during its lifespan. The tornado was on the ground for roughly 10 minutes, with zero known human injuries or deaths reported. A maximum width of 100 yards wide was noted, and top estimated wind speed was around 80 mph within the tornado.

"This tornado began near Schermerhorn Lake in Allegan County and was on the ground for around 6.5 miles. The tornado crossed over the intersection of M-40 and 108th avenue before lifting south of 108th Avenue near 24th street. Mostly tree damage occurred along this path. A couple of homes had minor shingle and siding damage and several homes were impacted by falling tree debris. Pockets of thunderstorm wind damage were found south of the tornado path."
