We hope everyone is recovering from the storm safely! We are working very hard to get back up and running efficiently! We currently have no power at our office and yard. Gulf Coast sailors and boaters - now is the time to start preparing.

If your boat is in the water, don’t wait until the forecast tightens up. Drop your canvas, secure sails and loose gear, check dock lines and chafe protection, and make sure you have a plan with your marina.

This system still has time to change, but preparation gets a whole lot harder once the weather starts moving in.

AQUILA 42 BOOM LOAD ISSUE—SOLVED. ⚓️

Revolutions Marine has successfully re-engineered the factory boom system on this 42-foot Aquila.

Many Aquila 42 owners experience excessive boom loads and binding, especially when carrying the heavier Highfield tenders that are popular on these vessels. The original setup simply wasn’t designed with enough negative-load capacity to handle the additional demand reliably.

Working with Larson Welding and Zern Rigging, we redesigned and upgraded the stock system to safely support the heavier tender and operate smoothly under load.

We get to do a lot of chatting about ball bearing service and general maintenance regarding torlon ball bearings in roller furlers, travelers, genoa tracks, and in this case, outhaul cars. However it is very rare we get examples as good as this one! As we like to say, when one ball stops rolling they all stop and start skidding creating flat spots. To help prevent this, clean with dawn soap and fresh water. Always check your tracks where the cars live for residual dirt and debris. If you must l**e, use only a dry l**e like sailkote or one drop.
