Month of May Closes with a Bang
The first race in May was rained out, and re-scheduled with the last race in May, and two programs rolled into one made for a long night of action. The evening started with the Legacy Division which are competing on a part time basis, and Carson Green picked up the Win after overtaking Jeremy Finney on Lap 9. Justin Reeves also made a pass and wound up second, with Finney hanging on for a podium finish.
The Dock of Pensacola Beach Street Stock Spectacular started with a roar with Daryl McDonald III showing some muscle, and Ryan Logan mixing it up as well. Multi time Winner Chad Robinson was in the watch position, and his instinct would prove right as the front two tangled somewhat allowing for Robinson to pick up yet another win. Parker McDonald ran steady and challenged Robinson hard, only to settle for the runner-up spot. Rapidly improving Darvin Lyons finished third, Mason Johnston had his best Street Stock Division finish in fourth, and Logan came home in fifth.
After just shy of 100 entries in the Kids Bike Races completed their laps around the half mile, the Faith Chapel Outlaw feature took to the track with an impressive field of cars. The Cantonment Legend Bubba Winslow led the field to green and paced the field for the first 25 laps before being passed by Points leader Logan Boyett. Boyett would carry the lead all the way to the checkered, followed by Winslow, and a newly revived Keith Thorpe who landed his first podium in the highly competitive Outlaw Division. Carter Taylor and Kody Brusso rounded out the top five.
A large field of cars showed for the Buggy Worx Crown Stock Feature, and Zachary Abdelwahed shocked them all by powering his way to the first win of his career. He beat the best with Adam Salter running second, Austin Reeves was third, Doug Thorpe Jr. was fourth, and Spencer Bragg rounded out the top five.
The night closed out with the Lloydâs Glass Pure Stocks, and Ely Loper continued his dominance by coming from the rear to pick up his third win of the season. Caleb Burkette led early, only to succumb to a mechanical failure. Michael Williams turned in a dazzling performance to finish in second, Connor Odom was third, with Sean Barnes and Dylan Courtney rounding out the top five.
Up next at Five Flags will be a gigantic weekend event, the Coca Cola Twin 100âs fueled by Monster Energy on June 12th and 13th. The Deep South Cranes Blizzard Series will bring the best Super Late Model racers in the nation for the back-to-back races. Outlaws and Crown Stocks will join the Super Late Models on Friday Night, while Pro Trucks, Street Stocks and Crown Stocks will join the Supers for Saturdayâs action.
