Here's something that you don't see every day. A late model Z71 in bubble gum pink with a mother of pearl midcoat. The sun went behind the clouds. That's unfortunate because this color looks amazing in the light. It wasn't my idea to paint 95% of the plastic pink. But I still like the way it turned out. Maybe this will be a new color option for GM. Maybe not. Special thanks to the folks at Automotive Paint Supply. Without them, I'd have a difficult time pulling off some of the colors I shoot. Outstanding customer service.

I'm hoping for some better pictures from the show today. KC and I finished this one up yesterday just in time for today's show. It's a different take on light blue with silver micro flake and a ghost pearl in separate mid coats. And as always, it was topped off with a little more clear than what was necessary. Pictures don't do it justice. In the sunlight, this color absolutely dances.

This is the most unusual combination of chameleon pearls that I have used on any project. It's 4 different chameleons from different color palattes. I was nervous about how they would react with one another. But the client requested it, and thankfully loves it. The bumper is definitely an upgrade from the factory bumper. It's not just another 650i anymore.

I don't normally do this. I fix botched paint jobs from other shops or individuals frequently. But I don't put anything out there for the public to see because it's not relevant in my opinion. I just fix it and move on. However, this was waiting at the shop for me yesterday morning. It was dropped off Saturday. I don't know the individual that painted it. I only know where they're located. I do know what the owner paid, and it was substantial. But that's his business and I won't make it public. This is without a doubt the worst paint I have ever seen come out of any shop. Absolutely horrible. How could anyone charge someone for this? How could anyone let this leave their shop believing that it's finished and correct? I have it now, and the rehab has begun. But it shouldn't be necessary. Make sure you know what your painter's skill level and technical abilities are before trusting them with your vehicle. There are obviously people out there who take no pride in their work and have no issues with ripping people off. The other reason that I'm posting this is selfish. And I don't mind admitting it. When it's finished and back at the shows, I want to be certain that the moron who did this can't take credit for what the final result will be. That's all I've got to say about that.

This one was a lot of fun. It's a mix of various pearls and candies over different bases. The owner decided on the overall pearl midcoat and basecoat color. Then, after we discussed the stripe size and location, he said,"Have fun.". And with that, he turned me loose to do what I wanted. It took a lot of trust on his part. But he's happy with the results. And I'm glad he let me have a little fun.

KC brought home a 2nd place trophy from Scrapin' The Coast. His build, his audio, and my little bit of paint. That's something to be proud of.

This client wanted a subtle color change. So we decided to go with a blue/green chameleon pearl over the original Granite Blue Metallic with a black top. After the bodywork was completed, I shot the factory color, the chameleon pearl in a midcoat, and blacked out the top. The client is working out the fog light details. But with the new grill, headlights, and an SS front bumper, it's almost complete.

Once again I delivered a vehicle to a client on a cloudy day. It's a shame because this color really shows off in the light. It's a metallic red with a lot of pearl. It flips from a bright metallic red to a darker shade on the bottom panels. The client and I were discussing how this color makes the car look bigger and lower. Awesome car and a great client. What else can I ask for?

This one was over a year in the making. Not because it was difficult. But because it took that long to decide on a color. It had previously been painted with a chameleon pearl. Sadly, nothing was removed prior to paint, and the factory base color was visible from front to back in obvious areas. I do not know who originally painted it, and it doesn't matter. I'm just glad that we got it done properly this time. There's some debate about whether or not there will be any further changes to it. Either way, the base color is there. I hope to get some better pictures after it's completely cleaned up and the sun is out. This color has a ton of metallic in it and it's a pearl that shifts from a medium charcoal gray metallic to a brilliant silver. Lastly, I want to give a shout out to my business partner, KC, and Dapp for getting this puppy cut and buffed. If you know how much work that is, then you'll understand why it was such a big help. You may be able to succeed alone, but having a quality team in your corner makes the search for success a shorter excursion.

This one wasn't my typical paint project. But it's kind of growing on me. For this client, I molded on a hood scoop, repaired quite a bit of damage, and painted his Ram flat black. There are more modifications coming. When he's finished, it will definitely be a one of a kind.

This client had some significant rear end damage to their Sonata. Being that the theme of the car is "A Nightmare Before Christmas ", she picked out the purple pearl. I got her to consent to the 2 tone with the black on top. Before the conversation was over, she said,"You're the artist. Do what you think will look good.". Artist is a strong word in my opinion. But I got after it and got a little creative with Jack and Sally on the hood with the spider's web. I wanted it to be a surprise, and it was. Thankfully, she loved it. I hated to give it to her on a gloomy day. But I did get a few pictures when the sun was out.

I'm delivering this little gem to the owner tomorrow. White isn't my favorite color for vehicles, but I still wouldn't mind keeping this one. You just can't find them in this shape anymore.
