This 1999 C5 came into the shop with a failed lifter… and the lifter didn’t go down without taking the cam with it. 😬

The car had previously been built with LS7-style lifters, a BTR Stage 3 cam, FAST intake, headers, and a Borla cat-back.

Once we got into it, the damage was pretty obvious. We replaced all the lifters and the chewed-up cam, got everything buttoned back up, and brought this C5 back to life. 🏁

Now she’s back out terrorizing the streets. 😈

🔥 2012 Silverado 1500 | Truck Norris Cam Kit Instal🔥

Wrapped up another Truck Norris cam kit on this 2012 Silverado 1500!

While we had the front cover off, we found something that definitely wasn’t supposed to be there… 👀 The factory plastic timing chain tensioner was broken.

Since the oil pan and oil pump had to come off to access the tensioner, the customer decided to go ahead and replace the oil pump and timing chain tensioner while we were in there. Definitely better to take care of it now than have a broken tensioner create a much bigger problem down the road.

For the cam setup, we installed:
🔹 Truck Norris cam kit
🔹 Speed Engineering long-tube headers
🔹 New timing chain tensioner
🔹 New oil pump
🔹 VVT delete

This truck is a 4.8L, so it did not come equipped with GM’s DOD/AFM system from the factory. That meant we didn’t have to deal with a DOD delete, but it did have VVT, so the VVT system had to be deleted in order to run the 3-bolt cam gear required for the Truck Norris cam kit.

The broken factory tensioner is also a good reminder that sometimes you don’t know what’s going on inside these engines until you open them up. Those older plastic tensioners can become brittle and fail with age, potentially causing some serious problems.

Watson Performance LLC is looking to add an experienced Automotive Technician to our team.

We’re looking for someone who can come in and confidently handle general automotive repair and diagnostic work, allowing us to keep up with our growing workload.

What we’re looking for:
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic ability
• Experience with engine repair, suspension, brakes, drivetrain, electrical, maintenance, etc.
• Able to work independently and efficiently
• Takes pride in doing the job RIGHT
• Dependable and shows up ready to work
• Keeps a clean and organized work area
• Performance/LS/LT experience is a plus, but not required
• Must have own tools

This is not an entry-level position. We’re looking for someone with real automotive experience who can diagnose problems and complete repairs without needing constant supervision.

We are a busy, established performance and repair shop specializing in GM LS/LT vehicles, performance builds, tuning, diagnostics, and general automotive repair.

📢 Shop Update

This ’05 Silverado came in a few weeks ago for a serious performance makeover.

🔧 BTR cam kit
🔧 Long tube headers
🔧 Stock volume, high-pressure oil pump
🔧 Custom Circle D torque converter

The final piece of the puzzle finally showed up, so we got the converter installed along with a fresh rear main seal while we had everything apart.

Needless to say… this truck absolutely rips now. The converter brought the whole combo to life, putting the power right where it needs to be and making this thing an absolute blast to drive.
