White Knight Garage

White Knight Garage Paint correction and ceramic coating specialist. Thank you in advance for visiting White Knight Garage. I am conscientiously slowly opening the business.

Even if you aren't interested in my services, you are more than welcome to enjoy following the transformations that take place here. In doing so we are currently only available in the evening and weekends and require a time slot be booked for me to work on your ride. Once booked, your vehicle will be my sole focus. You'll receive exceptional service regardless of when we work on your project and d

oubt you'll leave disappointed. We thank you for working with us during this time and appreciate your business! Mobile services can be arranged if the situation allows and are available for those requesting ongoing maintenance to preserve your investment. If a multi-day detail is booked, I will be requesting this be performed in the White Knight Garage as I can finish the job and return your pride and joy in a more timely fashion. Large or immobile items may be the exception depending on the situation. My location can support large vehicles. I do have a 28' enclosed race hauler so can move the most coveted of vehicles to and from my shop for detailing services. You may want this during winter for your summer ride or just to keep the miles down. I am setup for t-hook to frame and strap through wheel or lower suspension mounting to secure the vehicle to the trailer. Trailer also has a winch to pull your ride in assuming you have a tow hook or other method to bring your car onboard if the car isn't running. I can also perform mechanical services if you want. I'll be glad to install new wheels, fancy bumpers, exhaust systems, etc! Not all my posts will be about detailing even though this is the main focus of my business. I have been operating a race team for the 24 Hours of Lemons since 2015 and have my own personal track car that I have built and tuned (minus engine tuning) myself since 2012. I likely have the tools needed to perform the work you are requesting. Track and race car setups are my speciality. Examples of tasks I will not do are brakes, electrical, engine, and typical vehicle maintenance tasks. It's not that I'm not capable, it's because my insurance only covers certain work. If it make sense in the future, this can be revisited based on the types of requests I'm receiving. As with everything else, contact me to discuss the details. PRICING: If you're looking for a quick price, I may not be the right fit for you. Every owner's needs are unique therefore requiring a price that matches the service being tailored for you. Please review my available services and feel free to call, text, FB/Insta message, or email me. PRODUCTS: Through my own use and testing and talking with my mentors, I have personally selected products that are safe to the user/environment but still incredibly effective on your vehicle. The products used need to be complimentary to the love we have for our hard earned machines. New products and companies are always coming onto the market and being tested but at this time here is a sample of what we use: Ammo, CarPro, Gtechniq, Meguiar's, P&S, and Pinnacle products. I am not sponsored by any one company so have the opportunity to provide the best of all products based on my experience. If you have a product you want used, please inform me during our discussion and I'll be glad to fit it into my process. I enjoy trying new products and adjusting my procedures.

It is always a good idea to take care of your brakes, suspension, and wheel well area if you have the time. Here, I'm cleaning and applying ceramic coating to the calipers. This car sees track time, and it's been a whole lot easier to clean ever since!

This family oriented Honda Pilot received a paint enhancement. Only the roof appeared to have OEM paint. The rest of the vehicle was between 8-40mm. Most OEM paints are between 3-8mm. This made the correction fairly complex as it took 3 different processes, depending on the panel, to achieve the same level of enhancement around the entire vehicle. Fun project to be part of!

For those who are curious, a paint enhancement can also be called a one step paint correction. Typically, this service achieves a 40-80% defect removal but this is dependent on several factors such as the paint type and severity being corrected. Feel free to reach out if your just wanting to learn more or are interested in our services.

The new family minivan is finished! Applied a 5yr ceramic coating yesterday and had to immediately pull it into the sun to enjoy. The white paint is really popping after a proper polish and quality coating. Probably will never be this clean ever again so going to enjoy it while I can. Here are the obligatory after photos!

Yesterday was PPF day for project "family minivan". This was my first real attempt at doing PPF since the training course. I precut all my bulk pieces and had them laid out neatly on a table next to the vehicle. Completed the roof and a-pillars to begin with but upon finishing the passenger a-pillar, my one concern came to fruition. PPF is known to remove non OEM paint and this happened to me today (I considered this but thought I'd try anyway). If you've followed my recent reels, I mentioned part of the vehicle had been repainted. While working on the a-pillar, some of the PPF had to be locked on a repainted fender to get a little stretch to contour the pillar. After trimming I pulled the unneeded PPF off and it took clear coat with it. Fortunately it was only a 4"x1" area (pictured) but I've decided to not PPF anything else up front since a lot of the front of the vehicle was repainted to blend the new doors. Bittersweet for me but definitely got some much needed cutting practice. Very happy with what was done though!

I also get the top of the rear bumper protected with PPF to sacrifice itself for all the stuff being put in and pulled out of the trunk.

5 year ceramic coat tomorrow and it will be ready for the momma and kiddos Tuesday! Completion photo coming tomorrow!

I get asked, fairly often, "what is the difference between a "one step" or a "two step" polish?" I recently did what I call a multi step (anything more than one step) on the piano black trim on my wife's Ford Fusion. Black, even more so piano black, is unforgiving so it is a perfect candidate for this post. Depending on paint hardness, these correction characteristics likely can be anticipated on any polishing project. Use this as a guide to help you decide to what level of correction you want to strive for for your vehicle.

In each photo I am comparing the polishing progress of the right door against the untouched left door.

In the UNTOUCHED photo you can clearly see all the swirling and scratches from over the years. Besides seeing the scratches, I always pay particular attention to how precise the light bounces back at me. Here you can see how spread out the reflection is, meaning the surface is far from uniform. I had had enough of looking at it!

The 1-STEP completed was leaps and bounds over the untouched door on the left of it. Since this is a daily I would typically stop here but thought it would be fun to see just how much better I could get it. If you look closely, you can still see a few very small swirls left. I consider this 60-70% corrected, depending on where you look on the panel. The light reflection is much sharper in this photo than the untouched photo. Still, the light still has some haziness around the outer edge. Most clients are happy with this level of correction, hence why you likely hear about a one step so often.

After completing 2 more steps (3 total), you can really see the light reflecting ever sharper back to the camera. You'll also see there are no swirls remaining and almost no scratches left. This is closer to 80-90% corrected.

With wet sanding we could have likely achieved 90-95%. I'll never tell you we can do 100% perfection, it just can't happen, and no one is ever perfect, as much as we try.

Although I didn't get very scientific, hopefully you were able to learn something from this post!

Rental Car Quirks: It's rare there isn't some interesting quirk when I hire a rental car. In this case, the car was spotless except for the back wheels. Clean front wheel, dirty back wheel. 🤷‍♂️

Not pictured but always a normal thing I see in rental cars is none of the tires match in pressure and rarely match the OEM recommended pressure. This same car had by far the largest disparity I've ever seen and felt. Absolutely could feel it during driving too!
