Sometimes you find the unexpected!

🔧 Ford 2.3L Cylinder Sleeve Prep 🔧
Getting this Ford 2.3L block ready for cylinder sleeves. Someone previously poured concrete into the water jacket — a method sometimes used to stabilize thin cylinder walls, not uncommon in the world of race motors.

Now we’re cleaning everything out and setting the block up properly for sleeves. This engine’s on its way to handling serious pressure the right way — with tight tolerances, quality materials, and race-proven machine work.

Locking in Vertical Zero – 502 Merlin Blueprinting Begins

Kicking off the blueprinting process on this 502 Merlin by setting vertical zero off the camshaft and crankshaft centerlines. This is step one when you're chasing precision or double-checking the accuracy of previous machine work.

In this setup, the cam plug and the main bore alignment bar are identical in diameter. By probing the edge of each, we’re able to confirm they’re perfectly aligned — a strong start that tells us the machining work is right where it needs to be.

Precision matters. Details like this set the foundation for power and reliability.
