Today, one of our technicians was diagnosing a 2017 Ford Mustang with the concern that one of the rear tires kept deflating. After, putting it on the lift, the technician noted that one of the rear tires had several slashes towards to bottom of the tire. A tire helps a vehicle move safely and smoothly by connecting the vehicle to the road and the grooves in a tire's tread help channel water away from the contact area, improving grip on wet roads.

Today, one of our technicians was inspecting 2008 Chevrolet Colorado and noticed that there were several holes in the subframe due to rust and age. The subframe is a strong metal structure that supports and holds certain major parts of a vehicle together, such as the engine, steering, and suspension. The rust holes can mean the metal has lost structural strength, even if the vehicle still drives normally.

Today, one of our technicians was inspecting a 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 and noticed that some of the brake lines had started to rust and break apart. Brake lines are the tubes or hoses that carry brake fluid to the brakes at each wheel. If a brake line leaks or fails, you can lose braking ability.

Some common signs that your vehicle's brake lines are starting to fail is a soft/spongy brake pedal, the brake light warning on your dashboard popping up, or visible deterioration when inspecting the brake hoses. Today, one of our technicians was doing a four-wheel alignment on a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado and noticed that the vehicle's front ball joints were moving, which was causing a noise when moving the wheel. Ball joints are critical suspension components that connect the vehicle’s steering knuckle to the control arm. They move up and down as the suspension absorbs bumps, turn left and right when you steer, and stay properly connected and aligned with the suspension.

Some common signs that your vehicle's ball joints need to be replaced are clunking/knocking noises when going over bumps, steering wheel vibrations, or uneven and rapid tire wear. Today, one of our technicians was working on a 2014 Honda Civic and while doing an inspection, noticed that the rear control arms and bushings are rusting and starting to flake apart. Control arms and the bushings are a suspension component that helps maintain proper wheel alignment while driving and allows the suspension to move up and down smoothly.

Some common signs that your vehicle's control arms need replacing are clunking/knocking noises while driving over bumps, vibrations felt in the steering wheel, or the vehicle starts to pull to one side. Today, one of our technicians is working on a 2011 Ford F-150 that had a check engine light on and found that the VVT (Variable Valve Timing) solenoids had started to leak while doing an inspection. The VVT solenoids are small electrically controlled valves in an engine that help control when the intake and/or exhaust valves open and close in the engine.

Some common signs of a VVT system or solenoid problem are the check engine light coming on, the engine feels hesitant, or sometimes a rattling sound coming from the engine. Don't hesitate to come in! Call or text us at (410) 437-4870 or visit our website with the link in our bio!

Today, one of our technicians was diagnosing a 2008 Mitsubishi Galant with the concern that the vehicle was overheating. After turning on the vehicle and performing various tests, including a combustion analysis (video below), and found that one of the head gaskets was leaking. A combustion analysis can check whether the head gasket is leaking between a cylinder and the cooling system. It looks for combustion gases, particularly COβ‚‚, in the coolant.

Some common signs that your vehicle is overheating is the temperature gauge repeatedly runs hot or reaches the red zone, the coolant levels keep dropping with no obvious leak, or the engine runs rough or misfires.
