Dennis “Denny” Keith Hicklin, 62, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away on April 5, 2026, at UAMS in Little Rock.
Born March 30, 1964, in Overland, Missouri, Denny built a life defined by curiosity, humor, and a quiet but unmistakable kindness.
He graduated from the University of Missouri–Rolla with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and began his career as an engineer before later pouring his energy into helping at his wife’s flea market. Whether solving a problem at work or digging through a box bin store, he approached everything with the same steady patience and sharp eye.
Denny loved the simple joys of life: classic rock music played loud, a good joke shared at just the right moment, and the thrill of discovering a bargain at an auction or garage sale. His beloved van was often packed to the roof with the “treasures” he found — each one brought home with a grin and a story.
Recently, he surprised everyone (and amused himself) by admitting he had become a fan of Taylor Swift’s music after having bought a lot of Taylor Swift merchandise at the bin store. It was one of those small, funny truths that captured his easygoing spirit.
Though naturally quiet, Denny was often the first to say hello to a stranger in the store. He had a gentle way of making people feel welcome. That warmth extended especially to dogs — he never missed a chance to greet one, always keeping treats on hand for any four‑legged visitor who wandered in.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Donna Hicklin, and his brother, Michael Hicklin.
Denny is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Branneky Hicklin; his son, Dalton (Harleigh); grandchildren, Weston and Ellie; sister, Linda Keith (Don); mother‑in‑law, Brenda Branneky; and sister‑in‑law, Michelle Branneky.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 9, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Westside Church of Christ Family Center, 2300 West C Street, Russellville, AR 72801.
In keeping with Denny’s lighthearted spirit, guests are encouraged to dress casually — and if you have a silly T‑shirt, wear it proudly in his honor.
