💡 RV Tip of the Day: Keep Your Black Tank CLOSED!
It may seem like a good idea to leave your black tank valve open while you're hooked up at a campground—but it's actually one of the biggest mistakes RV owners can make.
🚫 Why you should keep it closed:
• Liquids drain out first, leaving solid waste behind.
• Waste can build up into a dreaded "p**p pyramid," causing clogs and unpleasant odors.
• Cleaning out a clogged black tank can be messy, time-consuming, and expensive.
✅ Best Practice:
Keep your black tank valve closed until it's at least 2/3 full, then dump it all at once. The rush of water helps carry solids out of the tank for a much cleaner flush.
💧 Bonus Tip: After dumping your black tank, always dump the gray tank second. It helps rinse your sewer hose with soapy water. Don’t forget to reapply your chemicals!!
