Short update: Good Weekend with Dad at High Plains! Fun weekend. Personal best on Sunday by over 2 seconds after not being at the track for a couple years and out of the car for a few months due to fires and work. This is a tough track but I am getting there one weekend at a time. Fourth on Saturday and third Sunday against some pretty stout competition.

Check out the photo dump. (Not all mine)

Thats all for now. Back to work!

Still safe in Wetmore, CO. Fire containment continues. 60% or so. Neighbors moved back to their homes.

Happy to have the RV, trailer, racecar, and etc (thanks to my neighbors for the help, temp location, and rides!!!!) home but found a flat that needs attention before the August race. (calling Monday)

Thanks for everyone reaching out for support and help!

Stay tuned for future updates.

Thats it for now.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for your patience and lack of communication. Long story short: My personal laptop was corrupted by a bad Microsoft update and wiped out my account I use to login to various things. With everything going on it took a few days for me to get to it and resolve and I cant use my work devices for personal business. Been working since Tuesday.

Some of you mentioned that the evacuation line doesnt reflect Adobe Creek being evacuated. According to the Sheriff because we access our homes via 290 which is in the evacuation zone, them homes are affected as if the road becomes impassible while the fire travels towards us, it would be a problem. (Obviously)

The smoke going to work on 7/8 (crack of dawn) was horrific half way between Wetmore and Pueblo. It was so bad that you couldnt see feet in front of you. On 7/8 around 4pm while traveling home there was significant activity on the left in the mountain range before the 9% grade hill. I am not sure specifically if it is the wet mountains but regardless there was lots of smoke, flames and air support combatting the fires. I saw multiple aircraft picking up water at the reservoir and dumping it there.

Last I heard we are around 96,000 acres burned with about 1831 people working the fire. The 60 minutes of rain yesterday helped but wasnt enough to do significant improvements. The fire reached the bulldozer line before Wetmore and its been holding with the help of a shift of wind last night. Fire fighters are putting out spot fires in the area of the line. Lucky the wind blew in the right direction at the same time avoiding further spread. Last I saw the fire is still 2.1 miles from Wetmore and around 5 miles from my house.

Power was restored as of 4:00 on 7/9 so that poor generator can take a break for now! (and my ears from the noise!)

Uncertain weather may play a significant role but as always its unpredictable and has the potential to cause significant growth regardless of the rainfall due to wind conditions.

Sorry no pics. No time.

Thats all for now.

Ok. Another update for today. Worked the fireline for about 8 hours. In short the Wetmore Volunteer Fired Department battled spot fires while we had air support, bulldozers running a fire line and more. Pooped. Scrub oak sucks to drag fire hoses through while climbing up steep grades!!!!!!

Power still out..... BUT.... I (and the house) are still standing..... https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=Elton+John+I+am+still+standing

Time for chores, laundry, prep for work tomorrow. Oh and I should probably eat something.

Thats it for now.

Good Morning,

Things got ugly last night and we were dispatched to the fire station around 8pm. The fire made a rapid turn towards Wetmore and started to take off. We were lucky though because the wind shifted and it turned and headed east towards Pueblo late last night.... Crews continue to bulldoze multiple fire lines between the fire and Wetmore.

As of 7am or so 91,500 acres burned. 12% containment. 1374 people working the fire. The shear volume of people mobilized just for the Wetmore area was incredible. At least 100 people, tons of trucks, bulldozers, graders, semis, tankers, and more. Pictures dont do it justice....

Thats all for now. Tired.

Quick update. Still safe.

Military is now at the intersection of 290 and 67 restricting access to our area (which is important due to a FD impersonator) but allowing residents (if you can prove it..... temporarily). Fire is holding steady at 4 miles from Wetmore. Crews continue to bulldoze a fire break north of the fire. Smoke comes and goes depending on the shifting winds. Storms may create an uptick in the movement depending on various circumstances which are hard to predict.

Called in and spent a few hours at the station helping out and supporting the effort but right now just waiting for it to crest the next ridgeline. There are firefighters surrounding the entire area, some working on spot fires, others doing recon, and more working directly in contact. Flights to do water drops may be suspended due to winds but I have seen a number of choppers.

SO in short. Still no power. Fire holds. And 800 plus people are working on trying to put it out. Still only 13% contained as of the latest reports. 86,000 acres burned depending on your sources.

Ready to go back and do more soon.

As of 7/4 at 3pm MST I have been running on generator since yesterday when they cut power around 4pm or so to avoid any wind/tree powerline ignition. Florence (where the RV is parked) is currently under pre-evacuation but its parked in the middle of a dirt field so hopefully it will stay safe with the racecar and etc.

Still safe at the homestead with the fire approximately 4 miles from Wetmore and about 9 miles from the property. The fire has burned over 85,000 acres and more resources are being brought in daily. They are going to try to bulldoze a line between Wetmore and the fire shortly (No ETA). Smoke isnt as bad today but it can change at a moments notice with potential dry storms (Lighting with no rain) coming and rapid changes in wind direction. Now its 90 degrees and cloudy.

The project for today was to load the truck with 5 days of working clothes, the fire gear, bumming gear, essential items, and etc. Prepped the cooler to load up some food. Ready to bolt if needed or called in.

Thanks again for everyone who continues to reach out and offer support. Wish I was up at High Plains Raceway but under the circumstances I think I made the best decision. Race safe, crew safe, and thanks for all the workers as well as the Colorado Region SCCA BOD/Crew.

IF I dont get back to you dont worry. There is a lot going on and I may be on the road, helping neighbors, working the fire or ACTUALLY AT MY FULL TIME JOB! Text is best at this time.

Happy 4th
