Hey Everyone!

Its been a minute since the last update from Jahn Autosport! Been quite busy! Not to mention that thing called a job which pays the bills......

At Pueblo we had a decent weekend. Raced against a couple big dogs but had to use a strategy when racing in order to finish. Long story short I entered both the regional and the national both days which were virtually back to back and I didnt have time to refuel. So in each race I had to short shift and carry as much speed as possible without burning fuel. As hard as it was to go slow, it worked and I had a couple regional wins and a 2nd/3rd in the national. No major issues but a couple of items that needed attention such as the idler gear but finished every session and didnt put a wheel off which is a first for me at Pueblo. Thanks to Mary Lee and David for visiting on Sunday.

When back home Monday, unloaded and started prepping for High Plains. Stripped the car, oil change, check brakes, restock the RV, clean everything and more. Then had some training with the Wetmore FD. Next up more prep for High plains, athletic test for the FD, and an oil change on one of the firetrucks.

Thats all for now

Quick update from Jahn Autosport West! La Junta was a good test weekend. Learned a lot from the data and since I was off today, I spent the entire day prepping for Pueblo in two weeks due to the short turn around.

Long story short unload, take off the tires, clean em, clean the wheels, lots of cleaning on the car due to winds and track grime, repairs from the rough track, master checklist, topping off fluids, clean air filter, bleeding the brakes/clutch, working on the tire kickers, download data, test generator on the RV, re-stock the fridge, check oil/af, and I am sure there is so much more.

Congrats to Levi on his track record in CF. Good hanging out with him and his family. Good to see all the Colorado Region folks! Thanks for all the killer trophies including a wicked jacket, and four more to add to the collection. Thanks to all the people who worked the corners, tech, registration, and more. Great folks here. Thanks to Mum and Dad for the support as always!!!!! HAPPY MOTHERS DAY EARLY MOM! Charlie, I will bring the car jack and stands to Pueblo! Thanks to your support by buying the parts to support CO Region SCCA safety with your purchase!

Back to work tomorrow, meeting with the Board of Directors with black hands, from all the work but will keep em hidden. :) Then wash the rv/trailer/Diemen and final prep for the Diemen for the Memorial Weekend race. Oh and of course I have to squeeze in chores, and etc in between!

Seeeeeeeeeya!

Quick update for this weekend as its been a moment....

Sorry for the lack of updates but life is busy between hikes, trail cleanups, making gourmet dinners, Fire Department training and participation, CPR training, HOA duties (Secretary/Treas), chores every weekend, and oh that thing that pays the bills.... WORK. (and thats not even all of it)

Car, tires, pitcart, UTE, and RV all staged, washed and ready to go! Treating LaJunta next weekend as a test because the first majors is just a couple weeks after that in Pueblo. Will have a lot to do with short turn around before the memorial weekend race. Just hoping to shake down the car since the new engine and knock the cobwebs out the drivers head......

Special thanks to Mom and Dad for their support as always! Thanks to all the Colorado Region volunteers working corners, tech, Safety, and more. Thanks to all the Colorado Region members for making me feel welcome since the move out here a few (ok 4+) years ago.

Quick jack and stands for sale. Asking $200 OBO payable to Colorado Region SCCA for workers or safety crews to help for safety and recovery or for safety equipment and maintenance. Stands are approximately 7" tall. OK condition but I just dont use em..... I will bring them to LaJunta for the next race (May) if anyone is interested. Otherwise available in Pueblo most weekdays. I also have two LD20 calipers available. Good spares, freshly polished pistons, new seals. Require fittings for your application. $50.00 payable to Colorado Region SCCA.

Quick Update from Jahn Autosport!

Chores took a bunch of time this weekend but managed to get the alignment done, (camber, caster, wheelbase, ride height, etc), corner weights, and more. Nice to see repeated results from the prior year and then made adjustments for different tires. Warmed it up with fresh fluids, bled the brakes, and etc. Getting there for 2026. Shakedown planned for LaJunta early May.

Next up adjust aero, work on the RV, sneak in a hike, chores, and load fluids into the rig assuming temperatures behave. Looking to take a trans or two, and an engine or two back to Wisconsin sometime this year or so for rebuilds but may do it myself in December. (Will see)

Thats all for now

Time for the Weekend Update from Jahn Autosport West. Grab a beverage for today's update! Thanks to the employer for the day off due to a federal holiday!

First we took the wheels that were powder coated and refreshed with new valve stems and mounted some tires. Set pressures, measured stagger, taped weights, labeled, and bagged for the season.

Then went on to tackle the engine swap. Ripped out the old engine which had 20 hours on it and started cleaning. Then did some more cleaning.....followed by more cleaning. But wait there is more.... Cleaning (tried to clean the old engine so the builder doesnt have to deal with a total mess).

FINALLY after a long time of sitting got the rebuilt engine back in the car. (Thanks Bill!!!!!!!). Old engine needs to go back for a refresh but ran flawlessly over the past two years or so. Got the exhaust reinstalled. Re-plumbed the water and oil lines. And of course more cleaning......

Next up the wiring nightmare. Then more wiring. Replace fuel filter, install the new chain, fill with oil, water, test fire, and a million other things to do before the first race of the season.

Thats all for now!

Sometimes you celebrate the victories off the track in the shop. Long story short the fuel pickup for the Diemen broke off during the victory lap at the last race at LaJunta. Here is the full story:

I was racing at LaJunta in October and seemed to have some fuel pressure issues according to the data and the display on the gauges. I assumed it was a tired fuel pump but didnt have the parts to fix it at the track so went home Sunday missing the races.

Got home, ordered pumps (2 spares), switched the pump and found the same issue. So.... I tore into the cell thinking the pickup was clogged with foam that has broken down due to age but found the pickup broke at the top due to the use of non-submersible hose in the past.

So. After about 20 hours over the past 4 weeks (while battling a cold recently), I was able to remove the old fitting. The issue is that the pickup is about 24" up inside the fuel cell and the only access is through a 3x5 hole. In order to get things located with zero visibility into the cell, I drilled sockets, and used cables to locate the fittings and get everything connected. Also needed my cell phone to take pictures of status because my big head couldnt fit through the hole to see what was going on.

By last weekend I got everything about 75% done but still needed to screw the hose onto the fitting and struggled for hours using all kinds of tools. I finally got it to a point where it was snug but needed one more 1/4 turn to tighten it so it wouldnt fall off mid-race. I had no more options and was growing tired of the situation, so I grabbed my phone (in case I got stuck), climbed into the car, shoved my arm through the hole with a wrench, and hoped I could remove it before calling 911 to extract me.

Amazingly enough I got it all done, installed new fuel cell foam (this is what prevents explosions in impact and holds the gas in the car) then went to fire up the car and still had no fuel pressure. I was worried something in the cell wasnt connected and I would have to go through the hole thing again but at a last ditch effort pressed the fuel sample port and found it was in airlock and the car fired. VICTORY! (although my hands, arms, and body from contorting into crazy positions to reach up into the fuel cell is shredded its done.)

Next time I will just drill out the floor and remove the cell.....Now that this is fixed we can move on to pulling the motor, putting the rebuilt one in, and a slew of other upgrades to prepare for next year. Wheeeeew.

Thats all for now! Seeeeya!
