Another classic we ran some new exhaust on and quietened it up last month. Performed a tune up too.

Interesting enough, I don't remember the exact year this LaSalle was, but they were produced by General Motors between 1927-1940. They were considered a luxury platform positioned between Cadillac & Buick, and built in Cadillac factories using Cadillac parts. They were discontinued in 1941 because they were pulling sales away from their flagship Cadillacs.

This install took a little extra effort. The original tachometer was cable driven by the distributor, so the instrument cluster & all the vacuum actuated headlights & wiper controls had to be removed & reinstalled to upgrade to a digital tachometer. The original spark plug wire routing for the front two wires on each bank ran through the engine mounts, and hugged the lower portion of the engine block under factory chrome covers. On the passenger side, stater removal was nessasary. Intake manifold was replaced to accept a square bore fl**ge while maintaining hood clearance without a spacer adapter. Also modified new intake manifold with block-off plates for exhaust cross runner passage for a cooler intake charge. A little massaging of the factory air cleaner for fitment was nessasary. And custom bracket was fabricated for the PDM, isolated power stud, & ignition module for mounting, hiding, & protecting wiring.
At a glance it looks pretty close to factory, but of course it's not intended to fool the enthusiast. 👍

The prerequisite is 75%+ of ALL staff are ASE certified in areas of work performed.
Many in the repair industry downplay the significance of certification correlating to a "hands-on" experienced & productive service, but it's the only public representation of dedication to our field we have. Another way to display the pride in our work outside the quality of work performed.
So we'll take it. 💪

Now I normally don't do these types of posts due to time (because I dont have a camera crew following me around), and one missed step in my vocabulary will blow the expert troll trumpet. I haven't searched if there's already a simular video out there, but I would like to drive home the importance oil changes to my customers & general public. And if it helps another shop or technician, wonderful. We cannot fix them all. The oil system on late model vehicles is not just for lubrication. It's a precision hydraulic system too, that must be kept clean. Many makes & models are very similar in design and should be treated with the same respect when it comes to service.

This engine in particular is 2019 Ford 3.5L twin turbo ecoboost, with the compliant of rattle during start up.
