오늘 1년만에 다시 풀로리다 올랜도를 찾았다. 2026 PGA show 오프닝 하루 앞두고 ‘Demo Day’가 열렸다. 이곳에 자리잡은 INNOXONE 테스트라이딩 사이트에 수없이 많은 인파들이 하루종일 줄을 섰다. 이노가 올해 발표하는 신제품들을 테스트라이딩하기 위해 인파가 몰렸고, 많은 미디어 그룹들이 이노의 신제품 ’RoboCaddy’ 를 취재하기 위해 몰렸다. RoboCaddy 는 내가 디자인한 상품중에서
가장 최근의 작품이다. 3년전 실리콘밸리의 Palo Alto Hills Country Club 에서 골프라운딩하던 내가 문득 떠올렸다. 당시 사용했던 파워캐디(전동으로 골프백을 싣고 나를 follow 하는) 가 처음레는 편리했는데, 9홀을 마치고 나니, 나머지 9홀을 계속 걸어서 마쳐야할 일이 걱정됬다. 나는 9홀을 마무리 하는대신, 클럽하우스에 돌아와서 냅킨에 미래 최고의 골프카트를 스케치하기 시작했다. 9홀을 ㅠㅗ기한 대신 그시간에 나는 ‘Ridable Power Caddie’ 디자인을 완성했다. 3년후 오늘 나는 ‘RoboCaddy’ 를 우리 부스를 찾은 수많은 사람들에게 공개했다. 모두들 깜짝 놀란다. “걷기도 가능하고 라이딩도 가능한 골프카트가 세상에 나오다니!” 생각해보니, 이것은 모든 골퍼들의 꿈이었다. ’Walk when you want, Ride when you need!’ 라는 ‘RoboCaddy’ 의 슬로건이 빛난 하루였다.
