Water damage is one of the most annoying repairs. You might be asking your self why?

Well because the manufacturers want to use OSB and not properly seal them to be water resistant. So there for, you are left with multiple areas that are prone to water damage.

Want a money saving tip ? Sure you do !

Here it is..... Preventive Maintenance. For those that don't know, that means inspection of your camper before and after every trip to insure that things are sealed and no opens are present.

Go over your roof monthly to insure all self lever ( it is a caulking like material that levels it self out on flat surfaces) has no cracks or gapping holes. Water is known to find the smallest hole and just follow the path of least resistance. You could have a little cut in the membrane in the front of the camper and the water will run towards the middle or back and start to do it's duty there. This is why it is important.

Checking all the caulking around your trim peices to include, windows, pass through storage compartments, trim, any where and every where. Slide floors. The moldings there.

If you are not able to climb the ladder, have a trusted friend or family member look over it and make sure it is good too go.

A customer that we have done previous work for called and said his 5th wheel was riding to high in the front and he damaged the corners of his cab due to turning way to sharp. I came out and could visually tell that it was way to high.
Took some measurements as you could see. Ride height for this typical truck and 5th wheel should be 7 to 8 inches off the bed side rail to bottom of nose. Also measured the 5th wheel hitch off the bed was 19 inches. Minimum of 15 inches is allowed.

Was able to drop the hitch down to first hole, which lowered the nose of the 5th wheel and allowed for proper clearance and measurements. We took it for a spin and was able to have everything work properly for him.

2025 Brookstone 5th. One of my repeat customers calls me on a Sunday stating they were leaving the campground and the Lippert Ground control 3.0 leveling was giving a fault code Mtr sensor. Ran through troubleshooting over the phone. Nothing was working. Was able to manual get the jacks up enough to get hitched up and headed home. Once he was home, I went out and diagnosed it more hands on. Come to find out, the hall effect sensor in the motor was faulty. Confirmed with Lippert for replacement, had one in 2 days and back on for their next trip 3 days later.

Do a inspection of your unit. Depending on how often you use it, will require more or less time of inspection. Good rule of thumb every 3 months do a all over inspection to insure all areas are sealed and will keep water out. Among other things!
