Today was supposed to be closing day.
Unfortunately, life had other plans.
Long story short, I can’t purchase another home until I sell my Jacksonville rental property, which was trashed by tenants who had no regard for a home that wasn’t theirs. What should have been an exciting new chapter for my family has turned into a financial, mental, and emotional nightmare.
I want to sincerely thank Darren Procaccini and his entire team at 1 Stop Handyman for completely rearranging their schedules and driving from Palm Bay to Jacksonville to renovate, repair, and repaint the interior of our home. Their willingness to help my family during this mess means more than they’ll ever know.
But the hardest part of today wasn’t losing the opportunity to close on the house. It was seeing my wife cry. I immediately tried reassuring her and told her we have healthy children, a beautiful home, food on the table, and more blessings than we deserve. This is just a setback, and we’ll be okay.
Then she said something that absolutely broke me.
“I’m not crying because we can’t buy the house. I’m crying because I can’t do anything to help you live your dreams and open up your building.”
Man. That one hurt. Here I was thinking she was upset about losing something she wanted, when in reality, she was heartbroken over something she wanted for me. I don’t think she realizes how much she already does for me. I don’t need her to buy me a building or fix my problems. Having a wife who believes in my dreams enough to cry over them is worth more than anything money could ever buy.
I’m tired, y’all. Seriously freaking tired. I’m tired of my neighbors. Tired of cleaning up messes created by other people. Tired of watching hard earned money disappear. Tired of getting so close to something I’ve worked incredibly hard for, only to have another obstacle thrown in front of me. But I’m not defeated. I’m just exhausted.
I know God’s timing isn’t always my timing, and I have to remind myself that a delay isn’t necessarily a denial.
With that being said, I have an overwhelming backlog of calls and messages, and I honestly don’t even know where to start. Right now, I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up when that Jacksonville house is repaired and ready to sell.
So please, unless it’s regarding your vehicle or something business related, I’m asking for a little space. I’m not trying to be rude. I just genuinely don’t have the emotional energy to talk right now.
My family is healthy. My marriage is strong. My business is growing. And I’m still incredibly blessed.
We’ll get that building one day. And when we do, I’ll remember every single obstacle it took to get there.
For now, I just need to trust God, love my family, and keep moving forward.
The dream isn’t dead. I’m just tired.
