Part 1 of this course will provide an overall introduction to the layout of the IEBC as well as a discussion of its importance. The portions of the code that apply to all projects will be discussed. The IEBC provides multiple paths for compliance, and Part 1 of this presentation will focus on the ``Prescriptive`` path.

Part 2 will focus on the ``Work Area`` and ``Performance`` paths of compliance. Examples will be provided for each. The last portion of the class will include example projects that will be looked at from a prescriptive, work area, and performance approach so that attendees will have a good feel for the limitations and benefits of each method.

This free webinar will briefly introduce and demonstrate the newly implemented features in PT Designer, a software for designing post-tensioned floors. While doing so it will go over some design examples. The examples will include a two-way slab, long span beam and a two-way structural mat foundation. The three examples will be straight forward and highlight the steps used to create an efficient, code compliant and state-of-practice design. The webinar will guide the viewers through all the steps involved in the design of these structures in PT Designer and explain the associated results. The examples will be useful to both the novice and seasoned designer. Additionally, the seminar will highlight upon the intuitive and user-friendly interface, along with the built-in warnings and functions to help promote good designs.

Hand Calculations and Detailing for a Post-Tensioned Podium Slab

The webinar will focus on the hand calculations to design a post-tensioned structural two-way slab that supports multi levels of conventional wood or metal stud framed buildings. The specific detailing requirements specific to podium slabs will be addressed as well as the coordination and detailing of landscape elements that are often required to be supported by the post-tensioned slab. Construction photographs will highlight the interaction and potential congestion of the various components that are installed in the podium slabs.
