B&W Towing is looking for a dependable, organized, and quick-thinking Dispatcher to join our team.
We are a busy towing and recovery company handling everything from roadside calls and accident recovery to heavy-duty towing, commercial work, and emergency calls. Our Dispatchers are the backbone of the operation, keeping drivers moving and making sure customers, police agencies, repair facilities, and commercial accounts get the service they need.
This is not a sit-behind-the-desk-and-watch-the-clock job. You need to be able to think on your feet, stay calm under pressure, and keep things moving when the phones are ringing and the calls are stacking up.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer incoming customer, police, commercial, and emergency calls in a professional manner.
Dispatch the appropriate driver and equipment based on the type of call.
Monitor and communicate with drivers throughout the job.
Prioritize calls based on urgency, location, customer needs, and available equipment.
Coordinate heavy-duty, medium-duty, light-duty, roadside, recovery, and transport calls.
Obtain accurate information including location, vehicle type, customer information, destination, and nature of the call.
Communicate clearly with drivers by phone, radio, and/or dispatch software.
Keep track of all active calls and the status/location of drivers.
Coordinate with police departments, fire departments, commercial accounts, repair shops, insurance companies, and other agencies.
Handle changes, delays, cancellations, and difficult situations as they come up.
Make sure drivers have the correct information and equipment before responding to a call.
Enter and maintain accurate call information and job records.
Assist with invoicing, payment records, and account follow-up as needed.
Enter and maintain financial information in QuickBooks.
Assist with accounts receivable, recording payments, and keeping customer accounts organized.
Review invoices and paperwork for accuracy before billing.
Follow B&W Towing policies and procedures.
Maintain professional communication with customers and business partners.
Help keep the operation running safely and efficiently.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Towing, dispatch, office, or transportation experience preferred.
Working knowledge of QuickBooks required or strongly preferred.
Ability to multitask and handle multiple calls at once.
Strong communication skills.
Must be able to stay calm and professional under pressure.
Must be dependable and show up ready to work.
Must have good computer skills and be comfortable learning dispatch software.
Must be able to make quick decisions and solve problems.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of the towing, trucking, automotive, or transportation industry is a plus.
Must be comfortable dealing with customers, drivers, law enforcement, and commercial accounts.
Basic understanding of invoicing, payments, and customer accounts is a plus.
Must be willing to participate in the company's on-call rotation.
ON-CALL REQUIREMENT
Because B&W Towing operates around the clock, on-call coverage is part of this position.
Dispatcher will be required to be on call for at least one night during the week and one weekend on a rotating basis.
On-call responsibilities include answering calls, dispatching drivers, coordinating emergency and after-hours work, and handling customer and driver needs.
Must be available and responsive during assigned on-call periods.
On-call schedules will be coordinated with the dispatch team in advance.
Emergency towing and recovery doesn't always happen during normal business hours — we need someone who understands that the job requires flexibility.
