Today is a very heavy day in the shop. My best friend's father suffered some for of s cardiac event last week and has been in the ICU. Today the family has decided to terminate life support as Brian has had no brain activity since admission.

A good man, who was an influence in my life is leaving us. A fellow mechanic is taking his last walk out the shop door, but I know everything is going to be OK. I still remember how proud he was when he came to the old shop when I first started out. So many wonderful memories in that garage with him and Matt.

I know there is some pristine square body Chevy trucks and K5 Blazers waiting on the side. Along with a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 and a massive shop with the absolute best tooling and equipment. After all, theres a lot of rigs up there that are going to need maintenance and repairs, and of course, hot nodding.

Thank you for all the hard work Brian, we've got the work load from here.

This JK had to test me on its routine maintenance. Yup. Those are two broken bolts in the transmission pan clamps. Its ok. The kingdom is still safe and I get to keep my throne intact as the Broken Bolt King. A quick cleanup in the blast cabinet, a coat of high temp paint and some new bolts will help out the next guys.

She also had some weird suspension sag up front that turned out to be broken springs that were literally held together by the powder coat paint. A new set of Mopar springs and a fresh set of Monroe shocks on all four corners cured all its posture issues.

Maintenance is a good thing for the entire drive train. Even when nothing feels like its running poor, it is always prudent to stay on top of all of your fluids service intervals.

Sooo... This came in the mail. I didn't exactly plan to start the week on raw emotions, but it did.

I have no words, other than thank you for trusting me all of these years.

Good afternoon everyone.

Nothing huge to report from the week. Lots of stuff went left from parts availability and was rescheduled. So nothing to really showcase. I still have some stuff from the past couple of weeks to get up still. I'll try and do that this weekend.

Main reason for the post is we need waste oil to burn for heat still. We've probably got about 100-150 gallons left. If anyone has old oil, hydraulic fluid, or even frier oil, we will gladly take it off your hands! Feel free to drop it off anytime. If the shop is closed, it can be left in the lean-to with the dumpster.

This one... This one is still bugging me.

Young lady had her '21 Renegade towed in for a no start. From what she describes, it sounds like its a dead starter. Once it got dropped by the boys from Russell's Towing (great crew there, by the way), I started to see some very unsettling things. Bolts loose in the a/c compressor, oil leaks, weird electrical voodoo happening randomly, wire harnesses not routes correctly. After some conversations with the owner, the engine had been replaced recently at another facility and had some issues ever since.

Now is where my blood boiled a little. She told me of some VERY poor practices by the individual that was doing the engine swap amd found some things left behind in her vehicle; tools, a pack of ci******es to name a few. It had already gone back once. I got upset because I don't like when someone decides to act like the stigma, sterotypic "mechanic". I also felt terrible for this young lady. We had good conversations about it. I never bad mouthed the other shop or tech. I just told her that it wasn't her fault and it wasn't her responsibility to bear for some poor workmanship that may be at the root of all the issues. I advised her to contact her extended warranty that paid for the engine replacement and the other shop to have them get it back in and take responsibility. She was grateful but still concerned because she's down her wheels. I'm no motivational speaker, or pushover ball of mush. I just tey to be kind, honest, do the right thing, and do the best I can. We stashed the Jeep in the shop for her for a few days while she orchestrated everything for her logistics. It was towed out that Friday to go back to where it started from. We never charged her a cent because she was under enough stress already and hundreds of dollars in time is not the right thing to do to figure out another's mess. As a thank you for everything, we got coffee and donuts delivered from her (thank you again!).

We just want the industry to do better and be better. Its hard, but sometimes all it takes is an act of kindness and an example to draw from to start something.

Now for some b**r and pizza, and to swear at the refs covering the Celtics game... LOL

This '09 Wrangler wins the Murphy Award for the year.

Yup, same one I got to ahow off my bolt extraction skills on. From having to deal with some poor workmanship choices, to severe storms fouling up delivery times, to the broken intake bolt, and to the logistical nightmare that everything solidified into. It tested my mettle. All it took was a little time to exorcize Murphy from the shop and it was back together and on the road for our customer. Well... That, lots of expletives, more energy drinks, and maybe some bargaining with God and Satan... Regardless, it got done and it went down the road like a new Jeep.

One of our longest, loyal customers brought this F250 in for some angry creaking noise in the front end. High mileage, contractor's truck that is worked. These front ends are absolutely indicative of that Super Duty badging. All 4 ball joints were dry and worn. Tie rods, track bar ball joint, driver's u-joint behind the wheel badly worn. I don't know if everything was still original, but they held up through some heavy duty use. All new Precision Suspension parts. All alignment adjustments broken free and lubricated for the alignment guy. Back on the road and working hard for our customer ince again.

I will say, my shoulders were not happy after getting all this done. Big hammers are a must for working on these trucks.

Good Sunday morning, everyone.

I have been jamming at shop the last two weeks and I just haven't had time to get a few things posted. My goal is get things posted today. If your feeds and notifications start blowing up, I apologize. I'm going to do my best to not just spam the page.

We greatly appreciate our followers and customers! Myself, Christa, and the boys couldn't do this without you!

I don't know of one person that revels in things going left abruptly. In baseball terms; step out of the box after that called second strike, breathe, step in and hunt down a good pitch.

2009 Wrangler in for a list of repairs, including a bad intake and valve cover gasket leak. A bolt in the intake broke from corrosion. In the attempt to get the manifold free of the corroded bolt,it got broken. Nothing local for new. Nothing local for used. Used was an ABSURD price everywhere. EBay seller in Utah had one for a fair price and got it ordered in. Cleaned up in the blast cabinet and ready to go on. Because this was an unexpected, and highly unfortunate problem, we made the choice to sell the intake at the cost to the shop and eat the time to get it prepped for reassembly. Better to get on base after a tough at bat, than to try and drive the all out of the park.
