Ice Storm December 2013

OWOSSO – We may be under a state of emergency, branches are still falling and many have no power but there is a wonderful story to tell. While many are huddled waiting for the county, city or state to help, we have one neighborhood who has banded together and with help from volunteers are cleaning up the mess by themselves. No community has been hit as bad as Pleasant Valley. All most all homes have been damaged to some degree and they have no power but the owners are out laughing and smiling as they haul away the branches even as they are still falling.

Many haven’t had any sleep since the branches have been coming down since late last night but that hasn’t curtailed their enthusiasm and drive.

Pleasant Valley may be considered a poor neighborhood and has its problems but I am proud of these people. This is how our community was built, people helping each other and not crying waiting for outside help. I hope other neighborhoods view these photos and are energized to band together and take action without waiting for someone else to help.
