Finally got everything sorted enough with the CNC to start inputting programs today and ran a basic fixture plate that I need for our frame table. Haven’t been able to spend enough time to dive into figuring this out until recently because we’ve been so busy with other stuff. I’ve been slowly teaching myself and it’s been my goal to really make it a priority over this winter to make this a useful tool for the shop. I know it’s just a simple fixture plate and drilling operation, but it was one hurdle after the next in order to get to this point so today feels like a pretty big win. (And yes, I know I should be running the coolant. Felt like it was ok to get away with a little manual cutting fluid on this one.)

Wrapped up Jim’s coupe project and sent it home the other week. Excited to see how he finishes it out! We’ve been picking away at this project on and off for a while and it’s exciting to see it finally heading for the next stages of the build.

SALT UPDATE: We had a successful backup run on Monday and bumped the existing record from 157MPH to 165. Our qualifying run had a top speed of 158 and our backup run had a top speed of 173. The track was pretty loose and we knew the car had a lot left in it for power so we decided to keep running and take the week to gather more info and try to bump the record some more, after our run yesterday we had some issues with the engine pop up and we had to call it for the week rather than push it and cause any major damage.

It was an amazing week and I’m super proud of this entire crew and everyone involved with this build since day one. I’m also proud of my buddy for having the balls to pilot this machine to get us all there. Now we get ready for next year!

Been slacking on posting anything lately, so here’s a few slides from a week ago while we were finishing up prep for Bonneville. We added a vacuum pump to the race engine in the hopes of reducing our crankcase pressure. Had to find somewhere to make it fit and be able to drive the unit, this is what we came up with. fabbed up a mounting bracket while I spun up a drive pulley to mount onto the existing blower pulley. Ideally this would have been crank driven, but sometimes you need to work within the confines of what you have. Initial tests at the dyno went great and the engine DEFINITELY liked it. Now we head to the salt and fine tune the setup a little more. Let’s see how the week goes!

Salt update: Yesterday we lined up for our first run with the car and rookie run. The run went great with Garrett knocking out his rookie run and managing to license up at the same time. Pulled 126MPH by the 2-1/4 mile and shut it down right away. We brought it back to the pits afterwards and did a full front to back nut and bolt check and adjusted a couple things to prepare for this morning.
