--First Flakes of Season Possible: Next Weekend--
We are getting to be in that week or so timeframe, so I just thought I would throw it out there. The upper-air pattern as we get closer towards the end of next week and into next weekend continues to be supportive of some potential mixed precipitation. An initial strong cold front is expected move throughout the state Monday into Tuesday, plunging high temperatures from Monday into Tuesday by a good 15-20°F or more for many of us.
However, the second (reinforcing) cold front that looks to move through later in the week (Thursday into Friday ISH) would be the one to bring cold enough overnight temperatures to see some of the first flakes of the season!! The best chance to see the first flakes would be those highlighted in blue across portions of NW, northern, and NE WI. This is not out of the ordinary for this time of year. However, since it is going to be so warm out this weekend, this may catch some people by surprise by the time next weekend comes around. Many of us could go from the 80s and sun this weekend to the 40s for highs next weekend with showers/wintry mix. That is classic Wisconsin weather right there. Lol.
Don't take this in a sense that you will be getting accumulating snow... but, a dusting (maybe even a little more) might not be out of the question for some folks! Obviously, as we warm throughout the day it would melt. The ground is still warm too. More updates to come as we get closer. Enjoy the weather this weekend... it will be a stark contrast a week from now.
