🚨 HIGHWAY 54 CONSTRUCTION FINALLY EXPLAINED: WE’RE BUILDING A MOUNTAIN

After years of wondering why there’s always something being dug up along Highway 54, Lake Ozark residents finally have an answer: we needed a mountain. Crews have begun moving an impressive amount of dirt for the new sledding attraction coming to the area, apparently deciding the Ozarks simply weren’t Ozark-y enough.

LNN sources say construction will continue until the property reaches “respectable mountain status.” Officials have not confirmed how tall the finished mountain will be, but judging by the excavation so far, we recommend residents in the immediate area begin preparing for thinner air. 🏔️

BREAKING: SCHOOL OF THE OSAGE KINDERGARTNER CATCHES DAD THROWING AWAY ARTWORK; FATHER MAINTAINS “IT WASN’T THAT GOOD”

A School of the Osage kindergarten student reportedly walked into the kitchen at the worst possible moment Monday evening and discovered her latest classroom masterpiece already halfway into the trash. The father initially claimed he was “just reorganizing the refrigerator,” before witnesses noticed three additional pieces of construction paper underneath a coffee filter.

The father has since defended his actions, saying the family simply doesn’t have enough refrigerator space to preserve “every scribble that comes through that backpack.” He added that the drawing in question was allegedly supposed to be a horse, although independent family members described it as “possibly a dog” and one grandparent called the disposal “absolutely heartless” before quietly asking if she could have it.

🐒 MONKEY MAYHEM ON HIGHWAY 54

OSAGE BEACH, MO — Traffic slowed to a crawl Tuesday afternoon after a transport trailer reportedly carrying several Rhesus monkeys overturned near the Grand Glaize Bridge. Early reports indicated all but one monkey had been recovered, but officials from a local research facility later confirmed three monkeys remain on the loose somewhere along Highway 54.

Authorities are urging drivers not to approach or attempt to feed the animals. “They’re fast, unpredictable, and surprisingly good at crossing lanes,” said one highway patrol officer. Crews equipped with nets and tranquilizers are searching wooded areas between Osage Beach Parkway and Nichols Road.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while LOZcal News Network has been on a much-needed hiatus. After several weeks of rumors, we can now confirm our lead editor was not “taking some time off.” Apparently, an evening of “showing some tourists the real Lake experience” got a little out of hand, and what management originally described as an extended creative retreat was technically an extended stay at the Camden County Jail.

The good news: his release date is approaching, his notebook is full, and LNN will officially return Friday, October 9 with fresh stories and our normal posting schedule. 🏌️‍♂️ Bull Elk Chases Golf Cart at Osage National Golf Course

LAKE OZARK, MO — Golfers at Osage National got more than they bargained for this week after a large bull elk was caught on video chasing a golf cart down the fairway. Witnesses say the animal appeared “agitated but surprisingly athletic,” keeping pace with the cart for nearly 100 yards before veering off toward the woods.

Officials are reminding golfers to give wildlife plenty of space — especially during the fall rut when bull elk are more aggressive. “If it’s bigger than your golf cart, it has the right of way,” joked one course ranger.

🚗 Osage Beach to Replace Standard Speed Bumps with “One-Foot Traffic Calmers”

OSAGE BEACH, MO — After years of frustrated complaints about drivers speeding through Osage Beach City Park, Parks & Rec officials have announced a bold new measure: replacing all standard speed bumps with foot-tall “extreme deterrent” models.

Officials say the new design will “encourage mindfulness, caution, and possibly airborne moments of reflection.” A city statement clarified that Osage Beach is “not responsible for any undercarriage damage, spilled drinks, or emotional distress caused by improper ramping.”

After weeks of speculation, final plans have reportedly been released for the giant circular structure rising at Oasis at Lakeport, and unfortunately, what everyone assumed was going to be a Ferris wheel is apparently just a really big clock. Officials say the massive timepiece will feature giant hands and numbers visible from across Osage Beach.

Plans to install passenger seats were reportedly never part of the project, despite locals patiently waiting for them to show up. One resident told LNN, “I kept wondering when they were putting the seats on it. Turns out they were just waiting on the minute hand.” Officials have not confirmed whether the clock will run five minutes fast to help tourists get home on time. 🕐
