Another good weekend here for Narrows. Took advantage of the extra day off to get some more work done on 001.

Was able to get all of the deck finally locked in. Finalized all of the structural welding on the port side under the gunwale. Still have to weld on the fl**ge for the bottom longitude so we can incorporate some shelf space for the interior of the boat.

All three Freeman hatches are locked into place. These hatches have a great lock system and tough gasket to give a tight airlock seal for each space. Gives you the same result as if there was no access at all.

Took this afternoon and got her Push Knees welded on. Really love how these turned out. Hand welded them completely together and took the time to run the router on all the circle cut outs and bevel the edges inside and out.

Really have the settings dialed in on my mig machine. Very pleased with how everything is welding out. We take a lot of pride in our work, these are far from a cookie cutter slap together vessel.

When you order a Narrows we guarantee you will feel the effort put into these and feel a sense of pride to own one. We can’t wait to get 001 splashed and get our orders rolling for her sisters to follow.

As always thank you to everyone following along and sharing our progress. And to all that have stopped by and given us a reason to take a break during our long days thank you as well. We love to walk people through what’s going on.

If you’re in town for Punkin Chunkin’ this Saturday and would like to support our brand. We have many options for hoodies and crew necks in at By Diprinzios not far from where they’ll be launching the Pumpkins. 🎃

Just wanted to a second and highlight some of the small things being incorporated into this build. As well as get some close ups of the craftsmanship that’s going into a Narrows.

On the transom I decided to give it a little character adding some loon silhouette tie downs. Still have to drill the holes just haven’t decided where in the loon I want it.

We have our 10” aluminum cleats fully welded out incorporating a nice doubler pad to help disperse the strain. These should be able to handle a fender…

Little highlight on the shear line looking from inboard. Every seam above the deck has been tediously hand welded leaving a smooth even radius.

Deck scuppers hand welded externally to ensure a proper seal and ease for water to expel overboard.

The forward lockers will incorporate a hatch to allow for access as well as storage inside.

Really can’t wait for everyone to see this when it’s finally completed. I feel there will be a true sense of the time and thought that went into this build. A real foresight in all the builds that will follow this one.

If you’re out and about today, I will be up at the shop all day. Feel free to stop by and have a look. As always thank you for the continued support and insight. Time to get back to work.

Good weekend for Narrows Boat Works. Placed the bow door to get a sense of how it will sit. Also was able to get the STBD side of the house set. Additionally, installed the engine brackets and lifting lugs onto the transom.

With the boat in the condition it is in now sets up for the next phase to begin. Clayton Marina is sending over the guys that will be doing the outfitting. We are going to get everything laid out and continue progress.

Also hoping tomorrow we can possibly get the roof set up on top of the house. Finally starting to see the end of this tunnel. Can’t wait to get the house wrapped up.

As always thank you everyone, blessed to be living out this dream.

I know it’s been a minute, as I’ve said having to work back at school really didn’t help me on this end. Just never feel there’s enough time in the day.

In turn though still making headway. I’ve been working on getting everything aft of bulkhead six welded out. Doing so will allow me to get the pilot house in place so the guys over to Clayton Marina can start getting some of the outfitting laid out.

As you can see we finally have the 🏠 loading… I was able to get the aft section as well as the port of house in place tonight. Having this started is really allowing the boat to take shape. Plan on getting everything where the STBD sets welded next, that way I don’t make any of the welding more difficult than it already is. After that I’m going to install the tow post and get the transom all fitted with the extension brackets and lifting lugs.

Having all of this in place will allow us to see where everything is going to have to be ran to and from. I’ll make any accommodations needed from thru-hulls to thru-decks for all rigging and wiring. Fuel fills will be placed as well and under deck plumbing for vents, bilge water exhaust, fuel fills. Was contemplating having all the bilge pumps run to a manifold with a single exhaust port but feel it’s better to give each bilge its own overboard.

As always thank you for following along and supporting the brand!!

Productive Saturday over here at Narrows. Finished getting everything finalized underneath to lock in the deck plate from bay 3 to 6. Finished getting the rest of my side decks in place ready to be welded out.

Set all the decks in to ensure everything is where it needs to be. Pulled some measurements from bow to stern to re-ensure she is square ✅.

After that, placed the rest of the freeman hatches to ensure proper fit and that there is nothing that needs to be removed for install. Also took a minute and set her cleats roughly where they’ll fall. Love these, nice 10” aluminum cleats for plenty of room for lines. Nothing worse than messing around with a cleat that barely handles a single tie off.

Have decided to pivot from an original plan and am going to hold off on installing the fuel tank before placing the decks. Going to place the decks and do a nice cut out so if there ever was a problem in the future there’s accommodation to access the fuel tank. More work for me but may just help a future someone.

I’ve really tried to think of every possible scenario one could run into. Being that these will be utilized as a work boat for some, we’ve designed everything to be extremely accessible with little to no hoops. Which in turn should see the future owners having lower “labor” service charges and back on the water sooner.

I’m not far from starting to stand the pilot house which I’ve also decided to build directly on the boat. Hopefully have another update for you all soon!!

As always thank you for following along and spreading the word. For anyone interested in potentially getting on our list for spring orders, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Steve Lavarnway or Darin Barton over at Clayton Marina Sales & Service

Not a boat post more of an apparel post this time. Will be putting up a nice update on Sunday/Monday for the boat.

Added some more colors as well as sizes down in the shop. Carrying everything from XS-XXL Can do larger sizes upon request. Don’t have everything made yet for all sizes. So if you see a color this weekend in another size you like anticipate that it will be on the shelf soon.

We are also developing some new shirts with a different look encompassing more of a focus on where the name of the brand is derived from. Also contemplating building some shirts based around the LC259 we are currently building. Possibly use some of the drafting images or an over the top shot haven’t quite decided yet.

If anyone can think of somethings that would be of interest in the shop please share. Would also love seeing anyone that’s purchased anything to leave a post in the comments. Attached we have a young Costantino repping a Narrows Hat.

As always thanks for the love and support. Very grateful for everyone that’s supported this endeavor. Hopefully we can grow this to something that has a great impact on our local community!!

School started this week so back into that routine… This boat is a full time job on its own but we will make it happen still. Luckily get to take advantage of this long weekend and get some much needed hours into the boat.

Have begun laying some deck down and getting her sealed up!! Snagged a couple photos to give you the idea of what’s going on inside.

You’ll see one of our American Made Freeman Hatches in place. This will allow full access below deck whether for stowage or needing to get in and reset switches on the bilge pumps. Each compartment is getting one of these.

On #001 I also made the decision to hand weld the entire weld seam of the gunwale 100’+ of tig welding. Which is a very time consuming task but makes for a great finished product. Being that I chose to give this vessel some flare and aesthetic in the shear line. You put yourself in a position that requires you to have a lot more welding due to the fact you can’t just bend the parts to create these lines like you could if the shear line was straight.

Also put a picture up to show how the deck scuppers will work. The deck sits just above the bottom of the side shell cut out allowing water to easily pass out with no resistance.

As always thank you for everyone that has been following along. Think it’s a great opportunity to give insight on what all goes into a build of this nature. An extremely long episode of how it’s made. Thank you for those that are repping the Narrows Brand, can’t begin to express how cool that is for me.

Blocked and loading up. As we progress through these next stages the boat really starts to change drastically by the day.

Thought we’d get some pictures up so everyone could see the shear lines that I feel will set this vessel apart. We have a great flow going on in this design.

Outside of our shear line having flow, in addition we’ve included a subtle pitch to our gunwale to allow water to flow off and stay out of our deck.

Got our false transom in place today and added our back deck allowing access outside and around the twin Yamahas that will be powering this tank.

Can’t wait till we get the pilot house on, should really bring this whole vision together. The roof we’ve designed to allow maximum coverage and give it a sportier feel is my personal much anticipated piece.

As always thank you for all of the support and assistance in getting the Narrows brand out. This is, and will be a community brand that we’re very blessed to be developing right here in the Thousand Islands. The assistance we’ve received locally from businesses and individuals is just such a blessing. We love to call the Thousand Islands home and can’t wait to flood the St. Lawrence with Narrows Boats.

Took our hull for a spin today. Big shoutout to the boys down at St. Lawrence Restoration Co for their professionalism and expertise. Knew we were in good hands immediately, didn’t sweat it for a second. And again big shoutout out to Clayton Marina, Steve Lavarnway, and Darin Barton for transport to and from. She’s now blocked up back at the shop for its final stages of metal work!!!

She’s in the daylight!! Off the jig and blocked up, big thanks to FMI Sand and Gravel as well as the crew from Clayton Marina getting us to this stage.

Ice doublers are installed, bow, bow hinges and all of the bottom seam welds are complete. Wanted to take a step back and ensure we had the right plan in place to roll her over. Last thing we’d want to do is make a wrong move and add to the work we already need to complete.

So tomorrow will be a big day getting her right side up so we can get this girl finished.

Appreciate all the support and good graces everyone has been sending our way!!!
