Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 0-14 years old. And y'all we did not do better in 2023. Florida moved up to #2 with highest number of child traffic fatalities per NHTSA.

An average of 3 children were killed and an estimated 442 children were injured EVERY DAY in traffic crashes in 2023 throughout the United States.

As parents, we are sure you don’t intentionally put your kiddos in harms way. But studies have shown that parents can be overconfident in their ability to select and install the right seats for their children; in fact, approximately half of all car seats are not correctly installed.

NHTSA urges parents and caregivers to double-check and make sure their children are in the right seats (rear-facing car seats, forward-facing car seats, or booster seats) and that the seats are installed correctly.

“Good enough” may not be good enough in a crash.

This Saturday, many locations throughout the country will be offering free car seat inspections by certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. 🚆Rail safety isn’t just about following rules—it’s about understanding why they matter and staying safe! Whether you’re driving, walking, or biking, keeping alert around trains and tracks is crucial.

Here are some tips to ensure you always stay on the right side of the tracks:

1️⃣ Cross with Care: Only use designated rail crossings and make sure you’ve got the green light—and enough room—to get across safely. Think of it as beating the buzzer, but with higher stakes!

2️⃣ Tracks are for Trains: Keep off the tracks—no walking, driving, or selfie-taking allowed! Remember, trains don’t do reruns; if you play on their stage, the results can be tragic.

3️⃣ Distraction-Free Zone: Around the tracks, turn down the tunes and pocket that phone. Stay alert and make your mom proud—she always said to look both ways!

4️⃣ Bike Smart: If you’re biking, dismount and walk your bike across the tracks if you can. If not, hit those tracks at a 90-degree angle to avoid a tire trap. It’s like threading a needle—precision pays off!

5️⃣ Gate Etiquette: Never stop on the tracks and don’t even think about dodging those gates when they’re down. It’s a race you won’t win!

Trains are like surprise guests—they can show up at any time from either direction. Let's keep our wits about us and make rail safety a part of our daily routine. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry (or worse)!

It’s Child Passenger Safety Week is almost here, and we’re helping families make sure their kids are buckled up safely.

Stop by Central Ops (2500 W. Colonial Drive) on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 3–5 p.m. to receive a FREE Bubblegum booster seat and get one-on-one guidance from our Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

Your child must be:
- Present
- At least 4 years old
- 40+ pounds
- 40+ inches tall

Come see us, grab a free booster seat and learn a few tips that could make all the difference on the road.

Great resource and event for our Central Florida families...

🚓 PALS Safety Day is one of their biggest events of the year, and trust us, it's way more fun than a fire drill! 🚒

Safety Day is a FREE fun, interactive experience for all CARD constituents and their families in a welcoming and supportive environment. Come help your child meet local first responders before they ever need them, and help first responders get to know your amazing child, too!

We'll have local police on-site for registration, safety devices to give away, community resources, educational activities, and plenty of opportunities to learn about topics like wandering prevention, water safety, and other common safety concerns. Parents, teens, and kids can all walk away with helpful information, new connections, and maybe even a few goodies.

Come for the safety tips, stay for the fun, and leave with a little more peace of mind (and hopefully a child who thinks police cars and fire trucks are pretty cool)! 💙✨

🚨 One person is killed every 42 minutes in a drunk-driving crash. That’s over 12,000 lives lost each year. 💔

During Labor Day weekend in 2024, 505 people didn’t make it home. Among drivers aged 18–34 killed in crashes, 40% were drunk. These stats come straight from NHTSA—and the fact that we still have to talk about this is heartbreaking.

But let’s be real. This isn’t just about alcohol. It’s about why we reach for the drink or drug in the first place—to feel better, to belong, to quiet something inside. And that’s the conversation we need to start having.

Because even just one drink can impair your ability to think clearly, reason, or drive safely. Alcohol lowers your guard and messes with your decision-making… including convincing you that you're fine to drive.

So this weekend, be intentional—whether you’re driving, riding, or hosting:
🧠 Know why you’re going.
🌟 Know what’s important to you.
💬 Ask yourself: Is this aligned with my values? Is it worth it?

Have a Plan:
✅ Before drinking, arrange a sober ride.
✅ Don’t let friends drive impaired.
✅ If you’re hosting, offer mocktails & ensure guests get home safe.
✅ Call 911 if you see an impaired driver.
✅ Buckle up and keep your distance—it’s your best defense.

Let’s make this Labor Day one where everyone gets home safe. 💙

Why do we teach speed = success? 🚗💨

Back-to-school season is here, which means packed schedules, endless to-dos, extracurriculars, work, homework…and the pressure to somehow fit it ALL in.

And that go-go-go mindset doesn't magically disappear when we get behind the wheel.

We speed because we're running late.
We check a text because we're juggling too much.
We order food from an app while driving so it's ready when we get there.
We get frustrated with the person in front of us because they're slowing us down.

We know these aren't necessarily safe choices. So why do we make them anyway?

Because sometimes what's really in the driver's seat isn't our driving knowledge. It's the values, beliefs and habits we've built long before we ever started the car.

What if this back-to-school season we taught our kids—and reminded ourselves—that success doesn't always mean doing more, faster?
