America's Meanest Cars

It started off with a teenage boy and his red 1987 Camaro and a teenage girl who was finding her way in life. Cars are a gateway to dreams.

After six years together, in the summer of 2011 we had a simple wedding in a barn filled with dirt, hay, family, friends and love. With the wedding money we received we purchased a 1967 AMC Rebel SST. A car that had been neglected for 15 years, cloaked in filth and cough drops was now the revelation of a dream. Growing up surrounded by various AMC models the kindred curiosity, just a kid set on repeat what did AMC stand for? Whether it is memory of hitting the drag strip with your family, cruising with your friends as a young adult, or the good old days where nothing was better than playing with your Hot Wheels car without a care in the world, just dreaming of owning that car one day. Whatever it may be that has sparked your memory, AMC wants to be a start of a new beginning. Whether it is building a project car and customizing it yourself or finding that affordable muscle car that needs some extra loving that you have always envisioned of owning we want to make it a reality.

The Honda Acura Car Show continues to show up every year. It has this relaxed vibe accompanied by gorgeous fall views that can’t be replicated. Always a good time to catch up with friends 😊😊 It was so great seeing my PFI family, I’ve really missed them this year.

Life has been busy. Not that that isn’t unusual, but goodness it seems as if there are no spare moments to breathe lately. Though an unplanned trip into the mountains getting to see all the fall foliage helped with that. There is something insanely peaceful about the sound of aspens in the wind in the fall. But that peace left quickly with emergency dental appointments for a root canal and crown. It was so so soooo much fun having half of my face swollen up. Highly don’t recommend. Happy to say my face is normal size again and starting to integrate food into my life again!

In some aspects life has slowed down as middle school football sadly came to an end, but not before I was given the opportunity to tackle my kid. 100000% would do that again and again. Incredibility fun. The fun shuffled right back into chaos with back to back first of the year band concerts to attend. I love hearing the terribleness of 6th grade band. Finding myself with a full day alone with my youngest we went on a random CarMax date, checking out all the cars is a favorite pastime of his. The Cybertruck was his absolute favorite.

Life continues to be busy, but that’s the way I like it!

Now that it’s October, fall has officially arrived in my mind! The weather is getting cooler, the leaves are falling, and pumpkin spice lattes are plentiful (of course)! But most importantly, DUCT TAPE DRAGS is only two weeks away! This year is going to be amazing. I always eagerly count down the days to this event!

HOT ROD Power Fest, a gathering of friends and fueled by inspiration.

Despite the scorching heat at EchoPark Speedway, the HOT ROD crew couldn’t resist cranking up the dial a few notches. A short cruise, drag racing, autocross, and NASCAR garages filled with show-stopping cars left behind unforgettable moments. The attention to detail and the atmosphere created was incredible!

What does “made to last” truly mean? To me, it’s a blend of cherished memories and tactile sensations. Everyone I know has a connection to something automotive. A car their grandparents purchased, a nostalgic cruise with friends, or my personal favorite, a late-night race at the track.

Now, let’s incorporate the tactile aspect. The satisfying sensation of holding a leather steering wheel, the gentle catch of paper on your fingertips as you turn the pages of a well-worn book, or the clicks and tension of a camera’s dials and buttons held with anticipation, waiting to capture the moment. Hot Rod Magazine encapsulates all these elements, crafting a world brimming with captivating stories. Stories that share valuable learning experiences filled with thrilling adventures, all within your reach.

While internet access and a bright screen are convenient options in today’s digital age, I find immense joy in holding onto these physical items. I hold them with a sense of pride, knowing that my good friends and I have put in so much effort to create these time capsules that will be cherished by generations to come.
