The most recent issues of Motorcycle Classics and the Triumph Intl. Owners Club magazines each have a featured article on the history and restoration of Buddy Elmore's 1966 Daytona winning Triumph.
All future T100 machines were called Daytonas in celebration of this exact bike and its win at the famed track.
After changing hands a couple of times and being converted into a hillclimber, Elmore's bike spent much of the 1970's and early 80's attending those events. The bike was then put away and nearly lost to history. But through a series of fortuitous events, the bike was recently found again, and a complete restoration followed.
Glass from the Past was very honored and proud to have been asked to supply an all new seat and lower fairing as well as perform some repair and restoration work on the original upper fairing.

More recent photos of Buddy Elmore's 1966 Daytona winning Triumph. We restored the original upper fairing and fabricated accurate replicas of the seat and lower fairing for the project. Photos of the bike as found are included.
After Buddy Elmore's win and at the end of the 1966 racing season, this bike was sold by the Triumph Corporation race shop in Baltimore, Maryland to Triumph dealer and part time factory rider Elmer Morra. Morra rode the bike at various events in 1968-69 before retiring from racing. He then sold the bike to a friend and fellow Leap-N-Links motorcycle club member Thomas Novack who used it in local hill climbing events in the Pennsylvania area. The bike was stripped of all roadracing equipment and competed for many years from 1970 into the 1990's in its stripped down form.
In 2022 the bike saw daylight again when the son of Thomas Novack offered the bike for sale. The bike was placed into the hands of a collector client of ours, and a complete restoration process was begun.

In 1967 Buddy Elmore and his Daytona win were celebrated by the Triumph factory when the 500 model's name was changed from Trophy to Daytona, thanks in part to this very bike.
It's been a real honor and pleasure being asked to be part of the restoration process of such a historic machine.
