Yes it runs and yes it has a California title and license plate! A video has been added to show how solid the motor runs. I’ve been restoring WWII jeeps since 2001 and it’s time to put this one up for sale and find a new owner. I have jeep customers in over 65 countries around the world and have owned more WWII jeeps than I can even remember. I know what this jeep has, I know what it doesn’t have, and I know what I’ve done to it. WWII jeeps are my business and know these rigs down to the correct factory nuts and bolts. I don’t need any help selling it and If you don’t like the price trust me, I DON’T CARE…. Feel free to find the another WWII original that comes up for sale because these rigs are drying up and just super hard to come by anymore. The days of buying these up cheap are long gone. So If you’re still interested keep reading
This is a late 1942 Willys MB. I did a full frame off mechanical restoration on this 10 years ago and is a 12volt conversion. It’s been sitting in storage since then but here is the breakdown on what I did on this particular jeep. Obviously it’s not a show jeep. I didn’t build this for show. I built it to drive and have fun with and run it in parades. It has the original frame, original tub, original grill, original fenders and original windshield. Even the glass is original and not cracked. Drivers seat frame is original but is a Ford seat. I know all you Ford guys are like thinking blasphemy on leaving an F marked seat frame with an MB LOL. Is what it is and I’m just leaving it with the rig. The tub has dings, minor dents, scrapes, scratches and some rust here and there but that is to be expected on an 84 year old jeep. Numerous other original parts throughout the jeep.
All of the new parts I put on the MB came from Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts so you already know the quality is there. He has the best reproduction/replacement parts in the business and is the only source I buy from on any of my projects. The following was done on this jeep 10 years ago. The jeep was driven no more than 5 miles after I put it back together and stuck it in storage. My business is jeep restorations/parts and I needed the room in my shop for other projects so this got tucked away in storage. But I did the following…
The Pro’s: New fuel tank, all new fuel lines, new fuel pump, new carter carburetor, all new exhaust/muffler system, all new brake lines throughout, rebuilt original master cylinder and rebuilt all original brake cylinders and original drums turned. Completely rebuilt the entire steering system including steering box, bearings, seals, tie rod ends, cups and races. Rebuilt the drive shafts and prop shafts with new seals, bearings, bushings and u joints. New shocks on all 4 corners. Rebuilt the entire original T84 transmission, transfer case and shift tower. That alone was well over 2k worth of gears and parts. All the lights work as well as the horn, dash and tail lights. All new gaskets on the motor as well as a new head gasket. The motor is out of a CJ2a and it runs great and has years of life left on it. New spark plug wires, new coil and new wiring throughout. New radiator hoses, clamps and numerous other things added to the jeep. Differentials have all new seals, gaskets etc. Everything mechanical has been gone through and either replaced or repaired. Motor runs fantastic and just did the basics.
The Cons:
The motor runs great but the rig needs a new clutch pressure plate/friction plate. It’s been sitting for 10 years and just won’t engage. If the buyer pays my asking price I will include a new clutch pressure plate assembly. The 5000 pound winch works but the spool is frozen and needs to be pulled out and unfrozen. It’s been sitting for a decade so that is not surprising. Fuel gauge and amp gauge are not hooked up nor the fuel tank. Bottom cap on the oil bath needs replacement.
New owner can keep the rig as is or go for a complete show quality restoration. This jeep has all the mechanical issues dealt with so you have a fantastic base to start with. The jeep is located in Central Point Oregon and I will be back down to show the jeep the first part of June. My asking price is 12k OBO. Which means I will take the best price offered which also could be more, or less than my asking price. I’d love for this jeep to go to a new person in the hobby or a first time jeepster. These things can be frustrating and quite expensive to work on and this is a great “first jeep” to start with. Considering the amount of money and labor I already put in the jeep, I believe my price is more than fair and the fact it has a title. If you are wanting a great rig to start your jeep venture, this is certainly worth consideration. I will not respond to “is this still available” and will delete and block all that kind of nonsense. No tire kickers and this is a cash only deal. I will not take a deposit to hold the jeep either and the first person with cash in hand will be the new owner. I would consider shipping in the USA but new owner would be responsible setting all that up. Lot depends on location and if we’ve done business in the past. I’m happy to talk about the jeep with serious buyers and go over things in greater detail. I will respond to messages when I can. Solid rig and will make someone quite happy. Again the jeep is located in Central Point Oregon and will be shown by appointment only.
