🇺🇸 15 Years of Tradition. 15 Years of Serving Our Community. 🇺🇸

Parade #15 is officially in the books, and once again our hearts are full.

For the past 15 years, Bubba’s Towing & Recovery has proudly handed out our annual Fourth of July parade T-shirts. What started as a simple way to give back has grown into one of our favorite traditions. Every year we look forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new friends, and watching kids and families enjoy a day that reminds us all why we love this community.

At Bubba’s Towing & Recovery, serving our community has always meant more than responding to calls. Whether it’s helping someone on the side of the road at 2:00 in the morning, clearing an accident scene, or celebrating alongside our neighbors at the parade, we believe being part of this community means showing up whenever we’re needed.

Olive Hill and the surrounding communities have supported our family and our business for many years, and we will never take that for granted. Your trust, friendship, and loyalty have allowed us to continue doing what we love, and for that we are truly thankful.

We also want to give a big, heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful sponsors who join us each year. Your support helps make this tradition possible and allows us to continue giving back to the community. We truly couldn’t do this without you, and we are so grateful for your generosity and commitment.

To everyone who stopped by our truck yesterday , grabbed a shirt, shook our hands, shared a story, or simply waved as we went by** thank you**. You are the reason this tradition has continued for 15 years, and, Lord willing, we’ll be right back here next year making even more memories together.

We ain’t gonna dress this up. We’ve been out here day and night, in the mud, in the cold, in the dark, doing the kind of work most folks don’t want to touch. We know what it takes to keep things moving when everything’s broke down.
We’ve seen Jerry out there doing it too. Not talking about it doing it. Fixing water lines, running equipment, plowing roads, cutting brush, hauling trash. The stuff that hurts. The stuff that don’t get posted up pretty. You don’t wait around in this kind of work. You either know how to fix it or you don’t. You either understand water and how it moves and works, where it breaks, or you stand there useless. Same with electric, same with infrastructure. You gotta know it. You gotta be willing to get in it and figure it out without waiting on somebody else to show up. That’s what we respect. Hard work. Knowing your job. Getting it done. We ain’t interested in speeches. We’re interested in who shows up when it’s bad and gets their hands dirty. We’ve seen Jerry do that.

⛔️HOW DO 911 WRECKER CALLS REALLY WORK? ⛔️

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear at Bubba’s Towing & Recovery is:

“The police pay you to come clean up wrecks they call you out to.”

That’s simply not how it works.

We wanted to take a moment to help educate the public on how police call-outs and 911 towing actually work.

When there’s an accident, law enforcement’s first priority is protecting lives and securing the scene. Once that’s done, if the vehicle owner doesn’t have a preferred towing company or isn’t able to choose one, the officer will contact a towing company from the local rotation list.

Being on that rotation list does not mean we receive a salary or government funding. It simply means we’re available to respond when called.

From that point on, the towing company is responsible for handling the recovery. Depending on the crash, that can involve:

🚧 Recovering heavily damaged vehicles
🚛 Operating specialized wreckers and recovery equipment
🧹 Cleaning debris from the roadway
🛢️ Handling fluids and environmental cleanup when needed
🚦 Working in dangerous traffic conditions to reopen the road as quickly and safely as possible

All of that equipment, manpower, fuel, labor, and time is provided by the towing company—not the government.

So who pays?

In most cases, payment is the responsibility of the vehicle owner, their insurance company, or the company that owns the vehicle involved. Unfortunately, not every vehicle is insured, and not every bill gets paid. Sometimes recovery companies spend thousands of dollars responding to a major crash with no guarantee they’ll ever recover those costs.

Our job isn’t just towing vehicles. It’s helping law enforcement clear roadways, assisting people during some of the worst moments of their lives, and getting traffic moving safely again for everyone else.

The next time you see a crash scene being cleared, remember that a local towing and recovery company has answered the call—often in the middle of the night, in bad weather, or in dangerous conditions—and they’re doing it with no guarantee of payment.
