Your transmission's gear ratios do a lot more than just determine when it shifts. They directly affect launch, acceleration, RPM drop between shifts, and how well your engine stays in its powerband.

💥 Higher numerical ratio - 2.48:1
More torque multiplication= harder acceleration off the line, but you'll move through that gear quicker.

💥 Lower numerical ratio - 1.11:1
Less torque multiplication= more vehicle speed per engine RPM.

Simply put: gear ratios help determine how your transmission uses the power that your engine makes. 💪🏼

⚙️ Transmission Temp Matters ⚙️

Heat is a transmission’s worst enemy. High temperatures break down fluid, reducing protection and increasing wear on critical components.

So, how do you keep temps under control? 👀

🌡️ Monitor your temps with a TCI® Transmission Temperature Gauge so you know when things are starting to get hot.

❄️ Add cooling capacity with a TCI® Max-Cool Transmission Cooler. Its plate-and-fin design can reduce transmission temperatures by up to 33% compared to tube-style coolers.

💨 Keep the air moving by mounting your external cooler where it gets plenty of airflow. TCI recommends mounting it in front of the radiator whenever possible.

🛢️ Increase fluid capacity with a TCI® deep or Max-Cool transmission pan for select applications.

💪 Protect your investment by giving your transmission the cooling it needs when the workload and the heat go up.

⚙️ Torque Converters 101 ⚙️

What does it actually do? 👀

A torque converter connects the engine to the automatic transmission, transferring power while still allowing the engine to keep running when the vehicle is stopped.

⚙️ Stall Speed- lets the engine reach a certain RPM under load before the converter fully transfers that power, helping match the converter to the engine’s operating range.

🔥 Torque Multiplication- happens at lower vehicle speeds when the converter’s stator redirects fluid inside the converter, increasing torque delivered to the transmission. As vehicle speed increases and the turbine catches up with the engine, torque multiplication decreases, and the converter operates more efficiently. The right converter can make a BIG difference in how a vehicle launches, accelerates, and drives.

🏆 Proper Matching- Engine combo, camshaft, vehicle weight, gearing, tire size and intended use all play a role in selecting the right converter.
