My very first full restoration was this 1956 Merc. It was truly a sweet running motor and sold very quickly when matched up with my 1955 Feathercraft 12' deluxe runabout.

Bought this what's it today. Turns over, good compression, and spark x2(after points cleaned and set at .020"). So filthy from years of storage in a dry barn and a terrible non stock brushed on paint job that have much work ahead. Believe this might be a pre-war '30's Johnson. Rope plate damaged and needs replacement. Anyone have one to sell with Outboard Motor Corp logo on top ? Unit has 2 blade brass prop(needs shear pin) and brass l/u. Don't know model, s/n, or year of mfg.....lost somewhere in the grime. These are BEFORE pictures:
