We've had some challenging cases recently.
One customer brought in a 2016 Ford F250 with intermittent remote start and TPMS issues. Another shop claimed they replaced the RKT module, which turned out to be a lie. We found and replaced the module, but the problem persisted. The RKT module then threw an "Antenna 2 missing" error. We searched everywhere for the missing antenna, found one on eBay, installed it in the headliner... and the problem remained! It was so frustrating. We kept digging and found a forum post about the exact same issue. The customer had a wireless trailer camera installed in the cab that was interfering with the remote start and TPMS. We unplugged it, and everything worked perfectly again.
Next up: a 2021 Cab and Chassis Ram Wrecker. The previous owner had the truck deleted, and after that, the PTO stopped working, so they bypassed it with a toggle switch. This caused the transmission to burn up, and another wrecker company bought it. Fast forward to now, and I got it. The first thing I did was flash the correct tune to enable PTO functions and removed the bypass switch. The PTO now functions correctly with the factory switch. The PTO performance code disappeared, and the transmission no longer goes into limp mode.
In PTO mode, the transmission locks the torque converter. The transmission doesn't know it's in PTO mode if it's bypassed.
We understand that these kinds of problems aren't always profitable for the shop. Sometimes you get stuck in a loop, wasting time. We don't like working for free, but the most rewarding thing is fixing something that no one else can. We pride ourselves on thoroughly investigating issues, finding the root cause, and fixing it.
We do brake jobs, front ends, and turbos, which are our bread and butter, but we also tackle electrical and drivability problems that other shops avoid. Not us β we will find the issue and fix it.
