Thank you to all who joined us for our first Rock Talk here in the Gallery!

Our talk was all about our state rock, the rose rock! Attendees were treated to a FREE rose rock and we even had an incredible door prize. Our awesome winner passed it off to a new rockhound, whose name is Dave. How cool is that?! 🤠

We are so thankful for our community, and look forward to our next talk in November — details to come! 👏

NEXT SUNDAY: Join us for our first ever Rock Talk with Dave! 🪨✨

Rock Talk will take place the first Sunday of every month. This month’s segment will discuss our state rock, the rose rock. We will discuss questions you may have such as when was it this formed, how is it formed, and how is it that we find them now? 🌹🪨

Each person who joins us will receive a FREE rose rock, and one lucky winner will win a door prize! 🏆

Advanced In-person sign up is required. Swing by the Gallery this week to sign up. Our first Rock Talk will be Sunday, October 4th from 2-3PM. It’s going to be a wonderful time!

A Trio from the Fezouata Formation — Morocco
Lower Ordovician, ~480 million years old

Three striking trilobites from one of the world’s most prized fossil beds, each with its own story:

• Asaphellus sp. (left) — This large trilobite owes its rich red hue to iron oxidation within its host rock. Specimens from the Fezouata Formation are treasured for their exceptional preservation.

• Pradoella tazzarinensis (center) — The largest known member of the Calymenidae family, identifiable by its bold, bell-shaped glabella built for protection and feeding. Its outsized proportions make complete specimens scarce and highly collectible.

• Megistapsis hammondi (right) — Recognizable by its long tail spine, broad head shield, and the same striking iron-oxide red. True, complete specimens are rare — many on the market today are reconstructed, so an authentic piece like this stands out.

All three came from the same Lower Ordovician seafloor over 480 million years ago — a rare chance to see this range of trilobite diversity side by side.

We are so excited to announce our NEW series in the Gallery: Rock Talk.

Rock Talk will take place in the Gallery the first Sunday of every month and we will discuss various topics and questions you have regarding rocks, fossils, crystals and more!

Our first session will be October 4th, from 2PM-3PM. In-store registration is required. Stop by the gallery and sign up — limited seating available. Plus, on October 4th, attendees will walk away with a FREE rose rock! ✨
