Checked the lower unit oil on this pontoon boat's outboard during service — this is what came out. 100% water, no oil at all. Water in your lower unit usually means a bad seal letting water in, and if it's not caught, it leads to internal corrosion and gear damage over time. This is exactly why we check this on every service, even when that's not what you came in for.

Have you ever seen a coolant leak coming from here? This Sea-Doo came in with a leak — pressurized the lines to 13 PSI, checked everywhere inside the hull, nothing. Turns out salt corrosion had eaten clean through the ride plate — almost two holes, and one was about to blow through completely. This one needs a full ride plate replacement.

Crazy that a piece of wood this small can shut down your PWC. If you're shaking really bad, or giving it throttle and it's not going anywhere while the engine revs up high, it could just be small debris stuck between the wear ring and impeller. If you feel these symptoms, get it out of the water and check through the back or the intake grate. Sometimes you can pull debris out with long needle nose pliers — if it's really stuck, you may have to pull the pump.
