County Commissioners Approve Funding for 2027 Fireworks Celebrations
The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners approved a $55,000 contract with Starfire Corporation for the county’s annual fireworks celebration.
The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, July 1, 2027, with a rain date of Friday, July 2.
Starfire Corporation was recommended by the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. The company previously provided fireworks for the Town of Centreville. County staff highlighted that selecting a new fireworks vendor would result in cost savings for taxpayers while continuing to provide a quality fireworks display.
During the discussion, Commissioner Chris Corchiarino explained the preference for a weekday celebration. Heavy beach traffic traveling through the area on weekends makes it difficult for both event staff and attendees to reach Kent Narrows. Commissioner Jim Moran also added that a weekday celebration works better for the area restaurants.
Commissioner Jack Wilson also introduced $10,000 funding commitments for fireworks celebrations in Centreville, Queenstown and Sudlersville. Recognizing that these towns traditionally request county support each year.
Additional details about the Kent Narrows fireworks celebration will be announced as the event approaches.
