If your differential fluid looks cloudy, tan, or milky, it’s a clear sign of contamination usually from water mixing with the gear oil.

Differential fluid is one of those maintenance items that can easily slip under the radar. Since it’s out of sight, it often goes unnoticed until a noise, leak, or performance issue brings it to light. Catching it early can save a lot of wear and tear down the road.
