⏰ Permanent Daylight Saving Time? The House of Representatives is expected to vote this week on a bill that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent. If it passes the House, it would then move to the Senate for consideration, and if approved there, to the President for signature.
If the Sunshine Protection Act becomes law, the United States would adopt permanent Daylight Saving Time, meaning:
☀️ Winter sunrise: As late as 8:38 AM (instead of 7:38 AM)
🌅 Winter sunset: As early as 5:55 PM (instead of 4:55 PM)
⏰ No more changing the clocks
⚖️ Tradeoff: Darker winter mornings, brighter winter evenings
One potential downside is that many winter morning commutes and school routines would take place before sunrise, meaning many students would be walking to school or waiting at the bus stop in very low-light or even dark conditions.
So, is the tradeoff worth it?
