About the family:
Many of you know and love the Verlander family. Cindy works at Garner’s Produce and always has a smile on her face, George “GC” and son Little George work on the water, and oldest brother, Travis lives in Georgia. Brandon and Brody, the two younger sons, attend Rappahannock High School and play sports. The family is going through a very difficult time, so we are asking for your prayers and any financial support that you can offer.
Brody’s Story:
Brody is a 9th grader at Rappahannock High School. He is a typical 14 year old young man! He loves sports, video games, playing with his friends, listening to music, and his nieces and nephews.
In August, Brody started getting sick. Over the next couple of months, he suffered from migraines, stomach aches, nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. He was diagnosed with Covid and mononucleosis, but those diagnoses didn’t explain the symptoms that he kept having. His mom continued to take him to his pediatrician and the emergency room looking for answers. She prayed someone would be able to tell them what was wrong. On Friday, October 14th, after developing a cough and having a really rough night, Cindy took Brody to the emergency room at St. Mary’s. The doctor there listened to Cindy, and ordered additional tests, and for the first time Cindy felt hopeful that they would finally get some answers. Sadly, the x-ray showed a tumor in his chest, and Brody was diagnosed with cancer. Though no parent ever wants to hear that their child has cancer, Cindy’s prayers were finally answered, and the family is now focusing on healing Brody.
We Need Your Help!
Brody has a long battle ahead of him in his fight against lymphoma. Cindy is unable to work because she is staying in the hospital with him, and GC is trying to take care of Brandon while traveling back and forth to the hospital. Please consider donating to help the family with travel expenses, food, medical bills, etc. No donation is too small; $5/$10/$20, anything you can spare, will help!
