Harness out before we weld.

Before welding on this Subaru, we pulled the wiring harness out of the weld zone. Heat and spatter can damage wiring, so we move it out of the area.

Upper rail assembly — factory procedure.

Tech fitting the closing plate so the rail locks in with proper alignment on the Car-O-Liner. OEM steps, not eyeball it. Structure has to measure right before anything cosmetic goes back on.

Plain talk: we’re replacing the upper rail the way the manufacturer wrote it, fitting the closing plate so everything lines up — and so you’re safe in the car after.

Buckled frame rail.

That’s structural damage — not a cosmetic ding. You don’t “pull it close” and call it good. Rail’s compromised, so it gets replaced. Hard job. Dirty bay. No other honest option.

Plain talk: if the rail’s buckled, replace it. Do it right or don’t do it. That’s how the car stays safe and straight.

Engine R&I first.

To replace a frame rail correctly, the powertrain’s got to come out of the way — hoist, leveler, chains, two techs locking it in. That’s access for a structural repair, not a shortcut.

Plain talk: we pull the engine so we can get the rail right. Safer structure. Better fit when it goes back together.

Last weekend's nor'easter, from 9/25 to 9/28.
It turned out pretty uneventful. We got a lot of rain and a few gray mornings, but no flooding at the shop. We're back to work like usual.
