Car washes hate your vehicle, that’s why unlimited washes are so cheap. Unlimited chances to beat the living hell out of your vehicles surfaces.

Up to a certain point it can be fixed, polished and coated with new wash methods moving forward.

Here’s a solid question: When you decide to run thru unlimited brush wash tunnels, wash your car with the nearest rag you can find plus Dawn dish soap, never once polish it or have it detailed, why is it such a shock when a detailer/paint correction shop throws you a number that you think is outrageous? We didn’t choose to beat the s**t out of your paint and clear coat, you did. So for us to correct your neglect and mistakes it’ll cost you. Just the way it is, get over it.

Then you want a ceramic coating at rock bottom prices. Sorry, not the way it works. Our materials and labor for one day of polishing and coating exceed a years worth of your tunnel washes. Those are the facts, if you don’t want to pay the price then keep going to the tunnel washes and don’t waste our time. We’re all getting tired of the cheap tire kicking and haggling. For quality work either pay up or shut up. Simple truth that no other shop wants to point out.

We’re gonna start dispelling some of the bulls**t behind the detailing industry. Starting with this:

The “sense of urgency” posts. “Book now before these spots are completely filled”. Guaranteed they’re slow and need business, “yea I think we can fit that in” translates to “we’re so slow that we want you to think we’re the only option you have”. It’s not. Tell them “I’d like the same deal/sale if I book in advance when you’re not so busy.” If you hear that the sale won’t last then don’t book if they won’t honor it at a future date, especially moving into the slower season/winter months. It’s just a tactic to get you to think you have to do it NOW. Most honest shops will tell you that they’re booked out a ways but will gladly extend the offer. There’s a detailer on every corner now, guaranteed that they’re just trying to fill the calendar fast.

Beware of the too good to be true deals, they always are too good to be true. The high quality shops such as Freedom know their worth and don’t need to pedal expensive services at rock bottom prices. Be careful and make sure that when you hire a shop that full transparency is part of the conversation. If not then move on.

I’ll keep uncovering the desperation tactics as we go along. There’s nothing wrong with waiting until the shop of choice has a legitimate opening and will honor the deals.
