The high-heat warnings posted for the next 3 days mean that many will be taking to the water to cool off.

1. **Stay Hydrated** Bring plenty of water & drink regularly to avoid dehydration, even if you don't feel thirsty. Bring extra drinking water for all passengers, Remember, the sun can intensify the affects of alcoholic beverages; designate a competent, sober Captain.

2. **Protect Yourself From The Sun** Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat, and seek shade whenever possible to reduce the risk of sunburn and heat-related illness.

3. **Watch For Signs oF Heat Exhaustion** Dizziness, nausea, headache, heavy sweating, or confusion are warning signs. Move to a cooler area, drink water, and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.

4. **Check Your Engine & Cooling Systems** Hot weather can put extra strain on your boat. Inspect the engine, cooling system, and battery before heading out to help prevent breakdowns.

5. **Plan For Changing Conditions:** Check the weather forecast before leaving, tell someone your float plan, and carry essential safety gear, including life jackets, a first aid kit, and extra drinking water.

Every Boat Needs An Anchor - and you need to know how to properly use it!

When you call us for assistance, chances are you have no ability to control your vessel and you're at the mercy of the wind & tide.

Your anchor will need to be deployed in order to hold your position and keep you out of harms way.

Be sure to inspect the anchor & the line attached to it, and confirm you have the proper length of anchor line for the areas you plan on boating.

We practice what we preach! We often remind our members & followers on social media to inspect, test, and maintain all navigation and life-safety equipment aboard their vessels — and we do the same.

For us, it’s an ongoing process, not just something done at the start of the season. We remain ready to respond when the call comes in, and get the job done safely & swiftly.

PS: Part of your inspections should include confirming the status of your Safe Sea membership and saving our phone number on your cell phone: 401-295-8711
