If you boat in Rhode Island or Massachusetts, your safety card matters before you head out.

You can complete the 1-day Boater Safety & State License Course in one classroom session, then take the state exam at the end of class.

If you pass, your RI or MA boating license application gets submitted to the state.
This course covers the basics you actually use on the water, including boat operation, safety gear, navigation rules, emergencies, and legal requirements.

It also matters for more boaters than many people realize, especially if you were born after January 1, 1986, or if you operate a personal watercraft, regardless of age.

Some insurance companies also offer discounts after a boating safety course.
