Closing tonight for the last time after 35 years. Much more difficult than I anticipated. So many people stopped by with unbelievable gifts, to share stories and memories and say good bye. It was so hard not to cry.
My dad was a smart, handsome, charismatic man who could fix or build anything. I guess the first three traits skipped a generation but I was lucky enough to inherit some his mechanical skills. I just tried to fix peoples cars as if they were my own. I was not the least expensive but I would never sell someone something they didn't need or use inferior parts to make a few extra bucks. I tried to treat my customers fairly and as I would like to be treated and in the end I may not be wealthy but I can sleep at night.
I tried to treat my employees as friends and they were loyal and stayed with me for years. Bill has been with me the entire 35 years and while he doesn't always show it, is a kind generous man and friend for life. I could not have lasted this long without him.
I would like to thank my beautiful wife Linda for giving me 4 smart, handsome, charismatic boys (there is that skipped generation thing again) Bryan, Graig, Kevin and Mickey and are children any parent would be proud to call their own. I thank her for putting up with me these last 35 years through the good times and especially the bad. I could never have done it without her support.
I know I am rambling but this is hard. For those of you that have not already scrolled on to the next post, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. It was your loyalty and friendship that allowed me to have a home and a family, put four boys through college and give them all they needed. I will be forever grateful to you all.
