I’ve got to say something here because this is the kind of stuff that gets guys in trouble. From doing this every day, this setup raises some serious red flags. These housings are thin, and we see them come in out of true all the time — that’s just reality.
In my experience, trying to run something like this without proper welding or reinforcement is asking for it to loosen up down the road. That’s not something I’d trust on a trailer going down the highway.
I get trying new ideas, but there’s a reason the guys who do this for a living stick with proven methods. If the manufacturer thought this could be done reliably without welding, they’d already be doing it that way. Link to video
