There is a familiar blueprint for reaching the highest ranks of stock car racing, but every so often, a driver comes along who builds their own ladder.

​For one 20-year-old Hickory Motor Speedway standout, that ladder has just reached the upper echelons of the sport. Skyler Chaney has officially accepted an offer to join the Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) Engineering Program, marking a massive milestone in a career defined by absolute determination both behind the wheel and under the hood.

Leapin' Leapfrog Tri-State Triple Crown Challenge News!!

🏁 History of Hickory

Women’s Club🏁

Hickory Motor Speedway Women's Club in the mid 1980's by two driver's wives who saw a need to help drivers through unexpected financial hardships. These ladies volunteered their time to help others. They started by selling 50/50 raffle tickets at the entrance to pit road to competitors and others entering the pits. They would draw the winning ticket during the drivers meeting. The holder of the winning ticket got half of the money that was taken on that day. The other half was saved to help drivers with unexpected needs. At first, you had to be a driver's wife, mother or sister to join.

In the early to mid 1990's other women wanted to join. The club then decided to open up membership to any lady that wanted to join. It was opened to any lady who loved racing and wanted to help. At this time the club moved from the pits only to the grandstands. They still sold 50/50 tickets in the pits but also included fans in the sales. At this time there were about 10 members. The club was holding monthly meetings to discuss matters. They held an annual car show as their main fundraiser. At this time the club decided to not only help drivers but to also include pit members, employees and others in the Hickory Motor Speedway racing family. The Women's Club continued to operate this way through the 90's into the 2000's. In time some members dropped out and others joined. In the mid 2000's the Women's Club added other things to sell such as headphones and flags for the children. Currently there are 6 members in the club. They sell a variety of things on race day for adults and children. They are still a volunteer group with the goal of helping the Hickory Motor Speedway racing family and the community in their time of need.

The Women's Club can be found any Saturday night to left as you come up the ramp.
